Mule tape is a synthetic polyester fiber. Dye used- RiteDyeMore. Some colors like blue and red don’t tend to hold a vibrant color but they do make for a nice lighter shade. Typically the more dye to water ratio you use, the more vibrant the color will be. I personally use one bottle of dye for 125 feet of rope with just enough water to leave a 1” buffer for reduction of water. You’ll also want to make sure you have at least 1” of overhead space to avoid boiling over. Boil your rope with your dye for one hour for best results. Lighter colors like lavender and mint may take either less boil time or less dye ratio. Mule tape can be machine washed and dried but I do not recommend putting braided rope into a dryer.
