I love your video's. They are so easy to understand. I'm felting the first 5 lbs with 11 more to go after I watched your video on felting in the rinse cycle. So if I want to make a king size, 80 X 80 in the cable knit stich can you tell me what the pattern would be. I was trying to figure out what the size is of this blanket your making and figured if it's 40 inches wide I would just double this pattern your showing and have a double cable knit. I used to knit when I was in high school, graduate 1977 so long time ago, but I remember how to cable knit after watching your video that refreshed my memory. I'm making it for my daughter for Christmas in their brand new house. So I hope you can help me. Thanks for all the great video's!

Such a beautiful pattern, I absolutely love it! I was wondering, if I have 8.8lbs of Merino wool, how big of a blanket can I make and what would the cast on stitch number be and how many rows before the cable starts? Sorry, I know I have a lot of questions 😊
@BeCozi
@BeCozi 6 лет назад
Michelle, thank you, glad you like the video! You can make a blanket about 50x60 inches with 8.8 lbs if knitting loose (the way I am showing), every stitch 3 inches inside of a stitch. You will need to start with 20 stitches. Then do the same pattern as in the video and repeat 3 first ( and last) stitches from the pattern two times.
@michellemmm8105
@michellemmm8105 6 лет назад
Thanks for the quick response. So I would do 3 knit stitches at the beginning and end of each row?
@BeCozi
@BeCozi 6 лет назад
Michelle, you are welcome! You will do first 3 stitches as in the video and then repeat the same 3 stitches. Then follow the video. At the end of each row: repeat last 3 stitches.

I always skip knitting the first stitch in every row. I knit the last stitch in every row. doing it makes a beautiful chain on both sides

Also, what kind of detergent is used in the event the blanket needs to be cleaned? Can the blanket be dry cleaned?
@BeCozi
@BeCozi 5 лет назад
Blanket should be dry cleaned. Washing might overfelt and destroy the wool as washing machines are too powerful nowadays

Hello! Thanks for another great tutorial. Question: why do you leave a stitch out in the beginning of each row? Is it because it's a knit-purl-knit type of pattern? I've only made simple knit blankets so far, but never left any stitches out and they always turned out fine...
@BeCozi
@BeCozi 6 лет назад
Martyna, I always skip knitting the first stitch on every row - it makes a beautiful chain on both sides and a blanket is not curling on the sides
@tynalicious88
@tynalicious88 6 лет назад
I'll try it out like this then - thank you! :-) Would you say that this type of stitch (knit-purl-knit) uses more wool?

do you routinely measure your stitches? I find sometimes my cast on is smaller than my width of the blanket. Am I making them too tight?
@BeCozi
@BeCozi 6 лет назад
Karen, it is a common mistake for many people hand knitting to make stitches too tight. I have it so many times I do it pretty even automatically but my hint for measuring every stitch is: every stitch is about a size of a thumb
@kmj1025
@kmj1025 6 лет назад
if you use chenille, how many rows to do a 40 by 60? like you use 7 then cross over, how about the chenille, the same 7? and how many do I cast on?
