Thank you for this video. I want to do the bigger hexagon quilt and really didn't want to do the papers or a sewing machine. So this works beautifully. I love the look of the quilt as well. Have a wonderful day.😊
At a tag sale I found a bag of diamond shape pieces, could that process work on those. In that bag there’s probably hundreds upon hundreds. I think I’m gonna get my quarter inch ruler out and I think I’m gonna try.
& 60 years later you find a pile of half sewn scraps of fabric that mom or gran started & you put it away believing you will finish the family heirloom only for a further 60 years to pass when your own daughter discovers the heirloom & throws it in the skip!
That's likely what my family will inherit. I've been making up 1 inch hexies for a few years, just haven’t started putting them together. It's easier to simply make them! 😆
Thanks Jo - you’ve made this very achievable by providing fully prepared kits; and clear video instructions; thankyou! I can’t wait to make this; the Tilda fabrics are so perfect for this project.
WOW!! Just found you tonight. Feel like jumping on a plane from Raleigh, North Carolina so I can be at your shop when it opens in the morning!!! GREAT videos!!! Thank you so much. Now I have to go visit your on-line shop. 🙂
Back in the 70's I found an old hexagon quilt top at a rummage sale, repaired it, backed it and quilted it. I saved old pieces I cut off and that started my love of collecting vintage fabrics. I then made a hexagon quilt and did it this way. I am in the USA so never heard of EPP. I have since tried it but found it too time consuming. I would like to order your kit but see no info.
Every thing is perfect, super well explained, and clear footage! Thanks a lot. I just think you should link in the description box to your website with the direct page for the kit. That’d probably help with your sales
You are doing such a great job on your videos - thank you. They are easy to understand, simple and I can actually see what you are doing - love, love the crocheted edges can't wait to see. Just can't say enough about how much I loved this. ❤❤
This was a wonderful tutorial! Thank you for making it very clear and to the point. It really made sense. I love that you didn’t use paper. Going to be my new favorite hobby! 😊
@ElsieGrays thank you. After I put that comment, I went back and read the pattern again and saw what you used! Sorry, the answer was right there all along!
Having developed an interest in EPP but finding the small hexis and papers annoying, I am thankful for this different method. Hand sewing is my favorite thing to do and I will give this a try as soon as I get settled. Thank you !
Ive got a few orphan hexi tops to finish! They are complete except for a few on one and a couple flowers on another! They are done this way ! Ive got the extra fabric and am now good to go ! Thanks! 🎉
Here in Texas, we have By Kate which makes stamps ( like rubber stamps offices use) in so many different shapes, sizes. You stamp, cut & sew. Seam allowances are printed on. Easy peasy! I cut mine with pinking shears
Thank you! This is a wonderful technique. I'm new to EPP which is rather tedious. I've tried both gluing and stitching. I love making smaller hexies and will figure out how to use them later. Is the fabric with little houses still available? I'll check your website.
Hi Kay, that's great to hear and I had exactly the same thoughts when I first started. This way is so much quicker. I'm unsure on which fabric you are referring too. Can you let me know what print you have seen on there and I can check our stock. I do have a few options left and may not be on our website. Thanks Jo😊
Thanks for sharing Learnt how to quilt properly was doing it through trial and error and was not getting a proper nest finish Thanks will now make it this way
Hi Nicole, We can set Germany up as a shipping destination if you were interested in purchasing. At the moment it costs us about $55AUD to ship outside of Australia and we charge $35AUD. Let us know and we can set up if necessary.😊
I love this method and have started one. Can you tell me how you actually assemble this top?Is it easier to go in rows? I need guidance .Thank you so much.
Hi Kathy, I assemble mine in a grandmothers garden pattern, then add two or three hexies to join my next grandmothers garden. You can do it in rows but I find this the most effective way.😊
I’m loving this method. I’m using (1.5” sides) hexagons and making the granny squares. Nervous how I’ll connect them all and what to do about the sides. I don’t crochet!!
You should change the title of this video; you`re not showing how to quilt it; you`re showing how to make the hexagon patchwork. Patchwork = sewing pieces of fabric together. Quilting = sewing layers of fabric, where sometimes one of the layers is made from patchwork, together. In speech, this doesn`t matter. But when putting the wrong word in the title of a video; people don`t find what they need. I need a video on quilting, not patchwork. " How to handsew a Hexagon Patchwork".
I’m sorry you have had trouble interpreting our title. No where does it say we are quilting, so we are happy to stick with our terminology. I hope you find what you’re looking for.
I am hand sewing and hand quilting a huge T-shirt quilt and I wanted to match up the frame and borders on the front and back. It was such a huge challenge and I did eventually succeed because this is only my second quilt. I wish I had known about using a pin to match it up. Thank you for this video.
@@ElsieGraysI forgot to tell you that I got my kit. My daughter and her boyfriend absolutely love it. They don’t know it’s for them. I’m trying the quilt as you go method and I’ll email pictures when I’m successful.
Hi Jenni, Yes you can. Best way is to purchase 4 of the pre-cut packs of 100 @ $59ea. The kits consists of this many and we will supply a pattern/instructions at no charge for you. If you choose to make your quilt bigger all you need to do is purchase extra packs. Hope this helps.
Hi Tammie, You can order the kit from our website www.elsiegrays.com.au On the home page under collections just click on Joanna's Hexie Garden Quilt and all the colour options will show.
