I am sure glad you are teaching us how to sew the binding- I didn't have a clue how to sew it and did the best I could but now I can learn to do it the right way so thank you very much, Laura!

As you were sewing i realized that the picture on the quilt was veggie tales and my inner child got excited! That quilt is so cool I love it.

This tutorial helped with some areas that are always harder for me. Love the safety pin to hold until done. I've always used a straight pin and it never quite holds or comes loose. And the way you put your beginning and ending bindings together is soooo much easier. Thank you Laura.

Love your tutorials! I always learn something from watching... Thank you. I'm working on my first quilt and thanks to you it's made things much easier. I'm at the binding stage and didn't want to machine stitch. Now I know I'll get a better finished edge. 💕

I also like those short pins. can you share where you purchased them? Your teaching is excellent and also the filming. I agree about the housework comment! I can see how much you truly love doing a real quality job!

Love, love, love your videos! My class for tonight was cancelled and I’m at the binding stage of my very first quilt. My quilt binding has the batting in it and is actually the material from the back of my quilt so no need to sew it on. I’m assuming I should start on a side and not the corner? Also, will my corners work the same since there is batting involved? Anxiously anticipating being able to snuggle up under my first quilt!!!
@SewVeryEasy
@SewVeryEasy 5 лет назад
Yes, start on one of the sides and the corners are done the same with or without batting :) have fun! and Congratulations on your first quilt!

How long does it take to hand bind a quilt? like if I wanted to do a twin sized quilt, how long should I expect to spend on just binding it?

Sometimes I feel a little guilty in watching your YT videos - like I'm cheating. It's as if there's this weekly conference at a local hotel that gives top secret instructions that only experts know. Rumor is that the registration fee for these seminars is too expensive for me. But then a hotel employee tells me how I can easily slip through a side door with no one noticing and attend them free of charge each week. So like a naïve young teen, I sneak in that very door. Then I sit down alongside those who paid the registration fees and try to act like an adult. I soak up all the information and am thrilled I'll be able to apply all this knowledge on my upcoming sewing projects. And yet . . . each week I walk out the door feeling a tad guiltier about not paying the registration fees when I think there are probably other ladies not attending because they don't know about the side door and think they might have to sacrifice some of their family budget money to attend. If only I could tell them. After I few months, one day I'm walking down the street and coming towards me is the instructor and with a warm smile she greets me, "Oh, hello! I recognize you from my classes. Are you enjoying them?" Shocked to see her out of context, my mouth drops, I stutter and say, "Y-y-y-e-s" and then out of shame I break down, start crying and confess my thievery. She effortlessly removes a tissue from her purse and gently offers it to me. "Oh my dear lady, there's no need for tears or to feel guilty. The classes are entirely free to anyone who wants to learn. It's my joy to teach others and share my skills. Please, come back and bring your friends with you. Let's see what we're sewing next time in the sewing room; bye for now." And then I realize . . . this lady teaches us all more than sewing lessons. Thanks, Laura; I especially enjoyed these detailed tips on hand sewing a binding on a quilt.

Have you tried using the blind stitch to sew your binding? Instead of nipping into the fold of the binding tunnel through the fold about a quarter inch then into the quilt backing just like you did. It looks very professional as the stitching thread is almost invisible.You don't see the thread where it nips the edge of the fold. I would like to hear your opinion on the blind stitch method just to see what you think of it.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hvb-Fq4-zjA.html
