This is the single best instructional I have seen! Very thoughtful approach and setup from start to finish and a straightforward emphasis on safety throughout. Thanks so much for taking the extra time to do this! I'm sure having the camera involved gave this an even higher level of difficulty.

Thank you Jason for your kind words. I wanted to make a video that shows how to be safe but at the same time enjoyable with the thrill of hanging a stand. I really do appreciate your positive feed back. Stay safe and hunt hard!

Bring a screwgun with and zip in a long screw leaving enough exposed to hang the stand on, makes it alot easier to throw the strap around the tree, instead of balancing and trying to hold the stand with your knee, then with the platform up tighten the strap unscrew the screw and the pull platform down to set it tight to tree

I’ve always folded my stand after strapping it in and then tightening it more because it usually loosens when you fold it and then it’s for sure tight after that

By far the best video on this on RU-vid! Thank you so so much! One tip I might add is after you loop and secure your lifeline to your desired height. I see you pull on it to tighten it. After pulling to tighten put a screw in tree step just below it. In the bad event of a fall it’s double security that rope won’t slip plus can hang stuff on the step. God bless you sir

Great video! I like the idea of raking under the stand first so u get a good clean area to start with. Plus if u drop anything it will make it much easier to find. I also might recommend that after u loop your lifeline around tree and get it all tight and adjusted that you might think about installing a screw in step just below the rope where it goes around the tree. This can serve a two fold purpose. It will prevent rope from slipping and you can also hang extra gear on the step. Just an idea. Great video! Be safe and God bless!

Excellent video. I learned today that you should never grab the prusik knot with your hand, rather have your hand above or below it to slide it up or down. The pressure of grabbing the knot, in the event of a fall, can prevent it from grabbing.

Good info the only thing I would add is a second lineman belt for when you have to go around a branch so you are connected to the tree 100% of the time. Also like was said in the comment below strap the stand in when it is folded then seat it in place when lowering the platform.

Once you do it a few times, you can get them set up pretty quick. It helps to have a mobile set up for run and gun but if need be but observation you can move these pretty quick. Thanks for watching!

the ladder sticks are the best ,it is nice to have the portable climbing sticks, but these ones are hard to beat, ladder runs on both sides get you way up in the trees and there not that heavy.nice set up, i like the ladder sticks myself used them for years.. i just picked up 3 packs of arrolight muddy portable climbing sticks i have not even got a chance to use them i was almost killed at work i have been unable to walk with out pain for almost a year and a half, i really miss hunting..i also like the web seat on that muddy stand makes for a comfy day in the stand..

BE SURE YOU ARE USING ROPE SPECIFICALLY FOR CLIMBING. amazing how many people think any woven rope is climbing rope. Most of that stuff will stretch like crazy and you will still hit the ground.

I am sorry if I didn't explain everything completely. Please forgive me because when you're filming there is a lot going on and sometimes you forget things. However I can say with the muddy system, the lineman's is very easy to use and they provide you with very detailed instructions when you purchase from them

Good job, however I use rachet straps on the climbing sticks. I set up several "permanent" fall stands and I dont like to get surpised pre-dawn with loose tension straps. I appreciate your safety and preparation. If you have watched some of the other videos on youtube, on hanging stands; safety is completely disregarded. I recall one guy climbing in dress shoes and designer jeans with no lineman's belt. Your life depends on your approach to preperation and safety.

Raice Bannon I totally agree safety and preparation should always be at the Forefront. Thank you for watching and commenting.

You had a couple more steps to work with. Keep climbing and hang your stand below your linesman belt. You should never have to detach from your linesman belt and attach to your life line until you step onto your stand.

So when he comes down, does he connect back to his lineman’s belt, then disconnect from the top safety strap?

Just stumbled upon this video. Ive hung and taken down hundreds of stands. Mostly good advice. I dont get why you wouldnt just assemble all sections of the climbing sticks and lean them up against the tree, with the straps attached. That way you don't need to take the extra time or effort to pull them up and assemble them.
@stoneyfieldoutdoors6250
@stoneyfieldoutdoors6250 10 месяцев назад
Because not all Trees grow the same cylindrical so you have to adjust sectional as you climb.

What does that have to do with me making a video about how to hang a set of sticks and a hang on stand? If you don't want to use what I showed in my video then use a ladder stand. People like me I prefer setups like this and I'm not alone.
