I love hunting South Alabama and have been having a good time hunting in my Trophyline tree saddle but my XOP steps are just too heavy. I just bought a set of the new Tethrd Skeletors. In this video we compare the weight of the two and add Amsteel aiders from custom Amsteel products.

I believe I would go with a 2 or 3 step aider for my bottom stick. Set that as high as I could reach and then just go with the sticks for the remaining ones. The higher I get the more solid I like my footing.

How did you like the skeletors? I just bought a set and some retractable aiders from the amsteel guy. I have not put them on a tree yet, but I know I am going to like the reduced weight and packability. Good video! What part of south Alabama are you in? I am in Covington county.

Thanks for watching. After a complete season with them , I really have no complaints. I ordered them the first day they were available so no one was making a dedicated aider at the time. I still think they are the best for the price with more features than most. The only way I would changer at this point would be for the tethrd one and based on the price for 4 sticks I will most likely never do that, lol.

@@archeryuniverse unless i get them as a gift, I won't be getting the one sticks, either. I will let you know how the retractable aiders are working for it. I had the same ones you have in the video on my helium sticks and storing them was a hassle.

I have a double aider on my first step. When I put them together, I take the top step of the double aider and put it around the top of the sticks. This allows me to carry them like a back pack

So far the only con I've found is that they still move down after they've been set and because the teeth bite into the tree so well, I can see the stand-offs bending under right conditions. You were sold on the exact same features that sold me. Hopefully they last at least 4 seasons, but I think that's not likely. We shall see though

I just ordered mine and have to figure out which aiders I want or if I'm gong to make my own. Looking for the two step aiders cause I like to get up to 20-25 feet sometimes if the woods are open

Thanks for watching, when i purchased these no one was making an aider for them so I chose the Hawk helium aiders. The 2 step aiders are a great idea i just felt more comfortable with the single

FYI when you set them pull out on the bottom of the stick and pull down then there is no possibility of the standoff bending and the stick just won't move when you step on it

Hey... Great Video. I have the Hawk Helium sticks (4). Wish the Skeletors had come out sooner. It is hard to decide if the One Sticks are worth it, save 4 pounds or so for double the price. The Skeletors look ready to go out of the box.. Thanks again for the video. : )

Thanks for watching. The fact that I didn't have to add a rope mod or daisy chain really influenced my decision. There are so many options available its tough to make a decision. I had just bought a set of Muddy pro's and never even took them out of the box.

Looking to order these for next season as i transition into saddle hunting. thanks for the video, it was the first i see with the aiders added to them and is definitely the way i plan to go as well to either carry only 3 with me or get up higher out of view depending on the situation

Great video 👍🏼I just got those same sticks. Wasn’t sure witch aider to go with but now I know. I used three Hawlk helium with aiders before. Not sure what the weight difference is but I can feel that the skeletors are way lighter

Are the aiders you purchased on custom amsteel their hawk helium/muddy pro aiders? I didn’t see one for the skeletors yet but figure they will work the same.

Does having the aider on, prevent the step from fully folding up, since the step somewhat tucks into the tube when folded up?

Thanks for watching The steps still fold up with no problems, The aiders don't affect them at all. At about 6:16 on the video you can see how they fold in.

Mine are on backorder.. I have the XOP sticks as well, but the mini version. I only run aiders on the first two steps. It doesn't bother me so much to be "teetery" in the aiders closer to the ground.. lol.

I seriously considered using aiders on only the bottom two but i was afraid I couldn't get high enough. I'm still not real comfortable with them but its getting better.

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately I haven’t, we had a death in the family the same day this video posted and just haven’t made it to hunt. Fortunately for me our season doesn’t end until February 10. I’m off the next 2 weeks starting Monday and our rut is just getting started. I think I will stick to full length sticks and stay far away from aiders on anything other then the bottom stick. They become a real hazard when it is freezing out and you have a bunch of cold weather gear on with heavy boots climbing down in the dark. I will take the extra 6lbs. Stay safe.

Thanks for watching, I agree totally. Fortunately for me I’m far enough south that we rarely hunt in that type of weather. If it’s cold enough for ice on my aiders I’ll most likely be in a lock on or climber.
