John from www.okraw.com/ shares with you how you can harvest wild grown pine nuts in the forest. In this episode, John takes you to the Mount Charleston 40 minutes outside Las Vegas, Nevada to harvest his own raw in-shell pine nuts fresh from the forest.
You will discover where you need to go outside Las Vegas to harvest your own pine nuts. How to determine if the pine nuts are good or not as well as how to get the pine cones out of the trees. You will also discover a really efficient way to get the pine nuts out of the pine cone.
Finally you will learn about some of the edible uses of the pine tree besides just the nuts and how the pine can be a true survival foods.
After watching this episode, you will be able to forage for free food in the forest!

Carry a heavy gauge garbage/plastic bag that can hold some air. Put the open cones in the bag. When about 1/4 full blow the bag up with air and twist. Then just shake them around in bag. This won't get all of them but will get the majority.

There isn't a policy enforcvement officer anywhere that can stop a man from foraging for food to feed himself or his family. If you get charged it will be assumed that you are going to sell them and therefore considered a commercial crime and a 'person' will be charged. They cannot charge a man as mankind created government to protect their life, liberty and property. Man is God over the government. A 'person' is a creation of the government and they have authority over their own creation. Words and how you use them are important.

Hey John, I love your videos. This was super informative. But just an FYI, I read as an undergrad that pine trees contain natural abortants that will terminate the pregnancy of animals that eat them. It's a problem for ranchers in some areas. It might be wise to let people know that so they don't unintentionally have an abortion by drinking pine needle tea. Or at least they might want to look into it first. But thanks for the video. I'll be going to Nevada this weekend to try out this pine but harvesting.

Those were really pretty pine cones, I have never seen those before. The pine cones here in south Louisiana grow on trees that are like 20 to 30 feet tall and the nuts are tiny and have a little wing on them. As a matter of fact all the properties that we had in 4 different states had those kind.
