Your aquarium is super nice and very nice to look at and super neat too, no co2 is super cool as you remove all those heavy costs, and i had also setup my 2x tanks with no co2 as well and also no pump, and i really like your tank, super nice scape and design great job there and keep up
Ohhhh. I for some reason thought that if you had that fancier substrate that has nutrients in it that you wouldn’t have to fertilize. But now that I think about it it makes since cause it’s the same with with growing regular plants. Still in the research here. Definitely a helpful video
wait is this true, I heard if you leave you lid it will get at least 5% - 10% or Co2.. And yes you need to spend a little bit for good fertilizer, lighting, and dirt/sand. I would suggest getting light and fertilizer because if you want a nice looking planted tank you need to spend at least 100 - 200 dollars in plant. most people quit when they fail.
How long this tank can hold without c02?is it still like this today..im beginner and i really want to try this but low budget on co2 cost..i love to try this without co2..
I have finally planted my first fish tank(20l), I've made my light(rgb 72w), filter and cover... I used jbl manado for substrate, will I need to used rootsticks?
@@jjaquariums okay, I'm happy to have bought my fertiliser used because it came with root sticks and one bottle of tropica prenium nutrition and the tropica complete nutrition one :D
Great tips. Did you seed your Monte Carlo? I’m thinking of starting of carpetting my tank with it but not sure if I should seed or just buy them off the shelf. If you seeded them, how long before they grow?
Hello budy, how are you. I wanted to ask you if you could help me to get rid of the black algae (BBA) from my aquarium, I have stones, plants, glass etc ... full of these algae, and I don't know how to eliminate it, it had never happened to me in 3 or 4 months, the aquarium was infested ... Can you help me? thank you
So something is off in your aquarium.. are you doing enough water changes, is your light on to much and are often is your filter getting cleaned because those are a few that will really trigger black algae to grow and really the best way is to just scrap it all off and trying to figure out what is causing it so it won't come back so check the three I listed and another tip is it wouldnt hurt to have some snails or fish that eat black algae to
The lighting is on for 8 hours a day, I change the water once or twice a month, the aquarium is 500 liters, it is away from the window, I have 2 eheim external filters and I clean it once a month, how can I eliminate algae, there are some product to put in water, or otherwise ... thanks
@@tozejulio yah there products out there I just dont like putting all these chemicals in the water but the good ones will work for sure! But just keep in mind that it might kill it all off but if the problem, whatever that is isnt fixed it's just gonna keep going back. And another thing, is your tank cycled. And the lighting and your filter wise seems fine but your water changes could be one of the problem, your tank is larger so you can get away with fewer changes but just for example I do 2 50 percent water changes a week on my tank and I do that just so it's not even slightly possible for anything to start in my tanks
@@jjaquariums right on .. I'm just psyched.. I have fluval stratum,co2,ferts and high lighting. It's crazy because I've seen timelapse on RU-vid of MC and it looks like it grows crazy!
there's no way that carpeting plant which is monte carlo I believe grew in this thick without co2 , a no co2 tank is doable for sure but you're going to be limited with the choice of plants greatly. And carpeting plants are difficult plants even in a co2 tank, So yeah nah
No co2 was used in this setup, this is when I was still in school and didn't have any money to even have a tank let alone co2, but keep in mind it look almost 2 years to look like that. I made this series years ago to prove its possible only reason I did that tank
Depends on what brand you get you buy the best like ada it'll last 2 years or a cheap one will last 6 months, but either way if your keeping your tank up for a while then you can remineralize the soil with root tabs
Hey, so i saw you said when dosing ferts not to do a full dose if you have no CO2, i have no co2, how much flourish excel should i add to my tank? I have a 20 gallon tall, in the back of the bottle it says to add 2mg of excel every day, when i did that i got alot of brown algae, should i just try 0.5mg once a week?
The plants will bring out way better color with it, we put carbon dioxide in are tanks bc plants can't consume enough when under a roof unlike nature where they pull it from the atmosphere naturally
Dear brother I have a question for you. Could you please tell me that the gold fish can eat the green carpet plant cos most of my fishes are gold fish and I want to carpet my aquarium with the plant. Thanks for reading ,may peace mercy and blessing of God be with you.
Got a question when you start your cycle or even if you just doing weekly water change after your cycle do youu add water conditioner everytime you do a water change
@@MaNo0sss ADA website or just look up ada tanks and other sites will have them to. There pricey tho there the most expensive rimless aquarium there is
Sorry I know I didn't exactly say it but using the excel to fill in for co2 your keeping your tank in balance to keep algae away, any other reason for algae that would be a separate video bc theres so many types and reasons, and this videos wasn't about that directly, thanks definitely check out the channel now and see the tanks
@@jjaquariums I used to have a aqualife when there was not led. I still have it. Are they making good led? What brands are good for lights? Any co2 system good? I saw the ADA. The fluval has some for 100 is it worth?
@@jjaquariums thanks for your reply. I have a fluval flex 15 gallon aquarium comes with lights and filter. The filter needs to be a especial kind or type as the CO2 and Light for planted aquariums?
No you have run it 24/7 in a non co2 setup the only reason we only turn it on at night when we do run co2 is bc we don't want to lose co2 when it's on during the day
That’s great news I love the sand and the Corys do to. Right now I just have a couple Amazon swords with route tabs and I have like a $260 LED light that specifically for plants. I didn’t buy it for plants I just got a great deal on it so it was originally just for the fish. What other plant species would you suggest that would do good without CO2?
@@jjaquariums …….No wonder the Java moss is doing so good…….One more question we have a lot of minerals in the water here in San Diego. the water in my tank’s hardness is literally 300 ppm. Is that good or bad for plants? Or does it even matter?
Could you tell me the name/brand of your surface agitator? I have my betta in a 6.5 gallon tank, have used sponge filter in the past, but have now converted to an h.o.b. filter and I notice a film quickly forming on the surface. I attempted to fix this with an air stone, but it seems too overwhelming for my betta. Thank you for your input and for your channel. ☺️
Bro dont take it down!!!! I feel you on the patience tip... I want my carpet to fill out as well... personally I would add some rotala rotundafolia and ludwigia repens in the background to fill in the back.. or add pressurized co2 that carpet would of probably been full by now.
I'm not taking it down bc stuff is not growing.. bc it is the whole tank is all filled in, and I have plenty of patience I waited almost 2 years for all of it to fill in.... I think you heard me wrong I'm taking it down bc we are building a new house and I will have to take it down for a while and I'll be rescaping it in new house and that's also why I'm not adding no more plants to it
@@jjaquariums right on.... I just moved my 40breeder to a new apt 3weeks ago. I didnt rescape or anything I followed Mike from mass aquariums steps he took and everything went great.. just wanted to say nice tank man and I wish I could see more updates from this tank. I'm getting ready to put a 20gallon tall together its gonna be epic.
@@bettabegoodjr2104 Ive been doing weekly videos this tank for a year now just a heads up and I have a whole play list on every video on this tank since the setup.. and yah its gonna be down for maybe a couple of months that's why I cant just move it plus I dont like the scape and gonna do even better the next scape bc at first didnt have the money for more seryui stone
Thinking about starting a planted tank. Thanks for the tips! I wondered what other equipment you had in the tank besides the lights? Any more recommendations for good brands?
For planted tanks I would say ADA is the best brand but is pricey but that's expected and other equipment that I have other then the obvious filters is the eheim 350 skimmer which cleans the surface of the aquarium, it's a must have in my opinion bc that gives your plants 100 percent full light when the surface is clean
Tank looks amazing man! I finally got my 10g. I found a Dennerle 10g pretty much brand new with Dennerle substrate, liquid fertilizer, dosator, and light... all for $80! =D. I put a canister filter on it so far and cycling the tank with the substrate and rock for about a week now. I haven't put the Monte Carlo in yet, it won't be here till next week. Is there anything I need to put in the tank before putting in the plants?
@@jjaquariums yea I'm gonna get some of those. The substrate I'm using is fluval stratum. I'm hoping mine will turn out at least half as good as your tank, once I get done. Haha!
@@clubtc05 o then yah your fine.. I mentioned that in the video it's not as long lasting so root tabs is some thing you'll have to do eventually but not right away.. I have ADA which is $60 a bag and is amazing but as long as you keep up with your substrate it will work.. but yah your tank will look nice if you do it right mine took a year and a half for it to grow like that so it's just a waiting game with planted aquariums.. and you got a pretty good deal on all that stuff mine costed $2000 😭
