Looks similar to 12 acres I'm starting. Less the power lines. Hopefully we get it up to snuff. Keep the small parcels coming... there's more of us than most think!

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors will do... got in late this year and don't have a blueprint yet. But did get an acres of soybeans in and about a half acre of greens. One swath after switchgrass in to screen the county road. Next year will be go time on the development. Already seeing some good deer.

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors, yeah, "the work" is the hard part, especially with limited resources, which is where we are. We've developed a similar setup on the northern half of our 50 FredNeck Acres. We are in the middle of pine plantations with a lot of wetlands spread throughout ours and the neighboring properties due to the flatness of the terrain. Still working on ground prep for a couple of the food plots. Southeast Tejas summer heat is not a positive contributor to the process. We did shoot our first buck last fall though, so it's only gonna get better. Enjoy...

Thank you!! I own 5 acres and starting the process myself here in Wisconsin!! Lots ag on the neighbors, heavy woods across the street, low land with a pond. I have mature trees and a clearing. Properly Is huge pass thru between areas and working on creating the "oasis" to hopefully increase the day light activity! Thanks again

Great video Dave! Will Joe have to do anything to the switchgrass, like lime or fertilizer in future years? Looks like he has a couple decent bucks already
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors 3 года назад
Thank you. He’s already limed and fertilized the entire area that is planted and will be planted. He’s going to do another soil sample In the winter and make adjustments. After that for the switch grass areas it will just be left alone. Switch grass grows pretty well even in poor soil as long as it has full sun. The food plots tho will be yearly soil sampled and corrected

I've got a small 6 acre property where the wooded area (4 acres) is covered in nettles. Do deer avoid nettles or eat them? I know people who love nettle tea and have heard that it's pretty nutritious but I have no idea if deer like them. If they don't like that sort of thing... how does one go about killing them off?
@andrewstancil1723

Would you suggest the buckwheat to be planted in the spring? Do deer eat buckwheat? I am new to the food plot idea and I just purchased 25 acres and am looking at opening up half an acre in the woods for a food plot near a creek. Wish I had someone in my area that could help me design my property like this. Great video!
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors 3 года назад
Andrew thanks. Buck wheat is great for building up the soil and helping to improve organic matter in soil. It’s not really deer food although they will eat it. I suggested it because it was new ground he would be planting in so it would improve the soil leading into planting fall plots.

Flat property is so easy to setup. But in the mountains it is impossible to get deer to bed anywhere consistently other than the ridges. No matter where your created bedding areas are.

The first step is to make sure your in the right location, because if you don't have 7 acres next to people that lots of acres that hold deer, well you don't stand a chance. Keep in mind on 7 acres your relying entirely on neighbors and their properties and their effort, time, money and hard work read as sweat equity. Without that sorry my friend.
