In this video, I’m going to show you how to head spin. First, I will show you the three leg positions you need to practice. And then I will demonstrate how you can start from doing a quarter head spin until you can progress to a 360 head spin. Finally, I’ll share the 3 common mistakes you should avoid while doing head spinning.
Head spinning is an advanced acrobatic Capoeira move. Basically, it is a floreio movement in which a person balances on their head while spinning on a vertical axis. This can be executed really nicely in a capoeira game but is also risky, so be sure to do a lot of research before you do it on your own.
Aside from being a cool capoeira move, head spinning is also a popular break dancing move. It’s not clear who influenced who here. Maybe the breakdancers influenced the capoeiristas or the other way around. It can also be that these two groups have developed and improved this floreio independently. It’s not known. Regardless, this is a floor movement that is shared amongst the two arts.
