So many of you ask about scars, how to minimise both old and new ones and what to use and put on them - well who better to answer your questions than someone who has recently had a bad head injury and has battled a huge scar on her forehead? TV presenter, radio star and life coach Katy Hill has been on such a journey and warning here - there are a lot of close ups of her scar and wound healing process.
Here is a list of both the products and places that Katy found useful.

I have major scars across my chest from a mastectomy and I have read many people's comments about scars and came across one that made me feel better about my scars. It is "a scar is simply a mark where your body was stronger than what tried to harm you."

Huge round of applause for the NHS & all who work in that extraordinary and unique organisation. Currently, they are experiencing an unprecedented level of demand. As we know from Italy (as of today, 13 doctors there are dead thanks to COVID19), healthcare workers are being asked to expose themselves to an overwhelming risk. If you can help yourself (or your nearest & dearest) at home, without having to burden the NHS, please do🙏🏻✌🏻. Wash your hands & stay safe 🤞🏻👏🏻

Michelle Carr this is tricky as you need to treat the infection before the scar do you minimise scarring first - then you can tackle scars with microneedling, lasers and Tranexamic acid x

Drying out your scars is the worst advice and is not backed by science or actual data published in a peer-reviewed journal; the opposite in fact is what works best.

In the healing after my breast reduction I had complications on my left one and had keloid scaring , I was recommended by my surgeon to get silicone pad it was 1/4” thick and I wore it on the scars under my breast , this was in 1995 my surgeon ordered it for me and it was a 4”x4” square and it cost $90.00 , it worked very well , wish they had tape . When I had this done I had over 250 stitches in each breast , best thing I ever did .

You look great Katy! Funny thing, listening to you here reminds me of my journey with chronic pain. Something they know nothing about and are told a hundred different things. I am covered in scars from 14 surgeries. There was absolutely zero advice on how to deal with them. Most of these scars were prior to the internet so I was at a loss. You are such an inspiration. I have decided that my scars are the roadmap of my battles and I won. Huge ❤️ from 🇨🇦

CeraVe's Heal and Protect Balm is a dimethicone based stick balm that I highly recommend for scars. I also use silicone strips on my 6-inch scar and they work. If you run out of strips or you need a little hydration on your scar, give the CeraVe Balm a try. Also, my GP looked at my silicone strips at my last visit and said he didn't know if they worked, but wasn't against them. More education needs to happen. Thanks for doing more than your part, Nadine.

I wish I had known this 7 years ago when I had bilateral knee replacement. I have scars across the top of both knees that are 7 inches long and 1/2 inch wide that are puckered, discolored and not cute. The doctor who did both surgeries just shrugged off my questions about treating the scars after the surgery and said they would heal beautifully without doing anything. Typical man response. But in the end, I'm just grateful to be able to walk and not be in a wheelchair.

Very interesting post. As a person of colour I can say it's very frustrating not being able to easily source plasters/tinted moisturiser/SPF/cc cream etc which is the right shade. Especially since moving out of London I found it particularly difficult. However I agree with Katy's philosophy, there are more important things and we can be grateful for the things we do have.😊

Last summer i broke both my wrists! I had to have both pined one with 9 pins in which left a long scar and it puckered in the cast afterwards. in just a month the scar tape flattened both and now 6 months later you can barely see the silver line! I saw this just as interest when it first came out but never forgot so rewatched when I came out of hosiptal and so glad I did!

Hello, I use Elisabeth Arden eight hour creame on this kind of scars and it works fabulous. And you should use it a long time. Before sleep Collageen Haden’s for longer than 300 days.I am a fysiotherapie in a rehabilitation center. I always massage it to make the tissues mobile again. I don’t believe in eating collageen ...that is a part of your normal diet. Massage is a thing you have to know how, the direction, how much pressure etc. I use the eight hour for the massage and I have scars myself, and I can’t find them anymore (almost) I can’t understand the advise you was given in the hospital.

Katy Hill, very true flamazine is more of an initial treatment of burns/ulcers to help try and avoid wound infection, I’m not sure it’d serve any purpose on a wound that’s not open. It’d be a waste of those antibacterial properties using it on a scar and it used to stain. Thank you for doing this video I think it’s really interesting and inspiring for those who do have scars.

He ended up pouring this powder on it n was told last resort as expensive n 3 attempts it started to heal. My ankle/heel looks horrendous n I find it hard to wear strappy shoes or backlass shoes as so ugly. Wish I'd had this advice. I've got few big scars as very accident prone n was told my skin over granulated (whatever that means). Keep this in mind for my next scar cos been 2 years with our hurting myself lol x

So I understand the magnitude of Katy's accident. Then 2 weeks later the school rang to say he had cut his chin and I thought the wound had opened. No! another accident on the playground that cut his chin open to the bone!!!

Get an abalone shell and put some lemon juice in it ( on the shiny side). after a few days it will produce a kind of "cream". Apply that onto scars for a month. You can re-use by making the "cream" as many times as needed. :D

I watched this when it first come out but have now revisited seven months later as I’m having a breast limp removed. I’m going to follow the advise as the scar will be visible if I wear a low top

Kelocote is excellent! I am a fan. I used it in conjunction with glycolic acid wash and salicylic acid to get rid of eczema scars which really looked like I had been burned all over my back. It took about 4 months.

Hi Nadine & Katy, thanks for your video! I have been following this Facialist in LA called Nerida Joy. I saw her in Mixed Makeup channel with Susan and Sharzad. Last July I got my forehead burnt by the sun. I messaged Nerida and she came back to me saying it sounds like a chemical burn and said to try Rejuvi Q Flavonoid for inflammation. Shelley x

I always heard vitamin E is good for your skin which I have used on and for years and my face has numerous scars on my face from when I was younger and I found it very helpful

For scars that are more than a year old, what can be done? Can we still use silicon patches?

I've a scar from my belly button to my pubic bone as a result of surgery several years ago. I'm very self conscious about it and it has probably stopped me from dating and finding a new partner as I feel it looks so awful. I wish I'd been given such advice at the time.

I've got a burn blister scar on the back of my hand, been there for about 6ish years. It really does my head in, I think it stands out when my hand is cold or cool. Any tips how to reduce it? Thank you.

Would silicone work well for eyelids? I just had Ptosis surgery in both eyes which pulled up one lid higher than the other. I am 67 and I am only using Vaseline which the Dr. recommended . I am only three weeks post op, but I already see small lumps on my eyelids and I am massaging them now. Should I use the silicone tapes or gel? He used dissolvable sutures inside and glue on the outside upper lids. Thank you so much for any advice.j

Wish I'd known this when I face planted the bath rim, so I know just how Katy felt. I looked like I'd broken my nose as well, luckily I hadn't! I still have a scar, but not as bad as my next scar from having a basal carcinoma removed from my forehead, so I have a nice white scar across my forehead. The scar has been there for two years now so I assume it's too late to do anything now?
