For years, I thought that "Videotape" was one of Radiohead's most boring songs... a monotonous dirge that just drones on for almost 5 minutes. 1...2...3...4... 1...2...3...4... 1...2...3...4... etc. etc. etc...
WARRENMUSIC's video, The Hidden Syncopation of Radiohead's "Videotape" • The Hidden Syncopation... opened up my mind and blew me away. I realized that I've literally been listening to a completely different song than the one the band is playing. Since then I've listened to the studio track countless times, struggling to hear the syncopated rhythms as the band hears them while playing the song. Sometimes I can just barely hear it, and sometimes it's just out of reach. Often, I just can't hear it at all and I'm back to the same boring song I thought I was listening to for a decade or so.
I decided to make a simple beat and sync it to the track so that I can hear the "correct" version of the song any time I want to. Hopefully this helps shed some light on the amazing talent and creativity behind Radiohead's music.
