A Heel-Toe Spin is a combination of the Left Inner Back (LIB) Edge and the Right Inner Forward (RIF) Edge. In todays examples, I am performing a Heel-Toe Spin towards the left. Like the name suggests; this spin is done with the left skate on the heel wheels, and the right skate on the toe wheels.
To complete multiple rotations, both toes must be slightly turned inwards, and the shoulders must rotate as a unit with the body. Doing so will ensure that the spin stays stationary and not begin to travel unwanted directions, as well as can help correct a skaters posture in the case that they are leaning out of the spins centerline.
To break down a Heel-Toe Spin (rotating to the left): Our right skate is skating forwards, focusing the weight on the inside heel wheel, while our left skate is skating backwards, focusing weight on the big toe wheel.
While in rotation, the right heel wheel should skate beside the left toe wheel. This may feel like the right leg is more in front, but our weight is actually equally distributed and centered between both legs.
A Heel-Toe Spin is centered on the inside ball/big toe of the foot, and the inside heel, rather than being centered on the ball of the foot.
PRO TIP: To ensure your skates stay close in rotation, squeeze your legs together as if there is a ball between your thighs.
When preforming a Heel-Toe Spin, you are actually doing two one-foot spins at the same time:
The Left Inner Back (LIB) Upright, and the Right Inner Front (RIF) Upright One-Foot Spin. So once you feel like you’ve mastered the Heel-Toe spin, Two Foot Spin, and the Toe Spin.., you can begin your next journey of learning One-Foot Spins!
I really hope this tutorial was helpful! If it was, please let me know in the comments along with other tutorials you wish to see! 😍

I was having trouble learning heel-toe spin until I saw your video. Great video. Thanks. Can you do a video on 180 jump transition? I am having trouble doing that.

If you already got a good jump, the 180 should be easy. It's the same as doing a standing 180 (without skates). If you have trouble with the landing, put one foot in front of the other, keep your knees bent and push yourself. It's easier than you think. Maybe you already got it! Good luck!

Yes! ill have a 180 hop tutorial coming out very soon. and also, the comment response from this other user stating to put one foot in front of the other is incorrect. the proper way to do a TWO foot hop, with and without rotation, is two feet taking off from a parallel stance, and two skates landing in a parallel stance. the skates should always remain parallel. let me know if you have any other questions, always happy to help💖 thank you so much for your support

Yes a good two foot hop assists adding rotation for sure I agree! but landing with the skates staggered or in other words, one foot in front of the other is incorrect. the proper way to do a TWO foot hop, with and without rotation is two skates taking off from a parallel stance, and two skates landing in a parallel stance. the skates should always aim to remain parallel ♥️ it takes practice. thank you for being here and for taking the time to comment and support!
