Thanks, will do! The plant, being a variegated one, needs a lot of light for photosynthesis. As a result, the new growths are not very strong in the winter.

If the leaves is where are where photosynthesis occurs which is how plants produce energy why do you cut the leaves off. Seems it would reduce the energy available to the babies

If an aeonium has no roots, the older leaves will supply the nutrients to the new growth and then wither. My plants have healthy roots, and the older leaves were merely cut in half. Therefore, not only the nutrients from the roots are focused on the growth of new leaves, the older and half-cut leaves continue to photosynthesize and support the new leaves until they exhaust their own reserve and died off. Otherwise, the older leaves will also get their shares of the nutrients from the roots.
