How to hem a sweater!
Even as a knitwear designer working in the knitwear world, we often say 'you can't hem knitwear'. But I wanted to come up with a simple, awesome solution to hem all my sweaters and knit skirts and pants.
I think I figured out something that works well!
Elastic tape has similar characteristics to a rib trim on a sweater. It pulls in a little and helps protect and keep the shape of the edges of anything knitted.
I go to Pacific Trimming in NYC to get my elastic tape. You can get it online, but it's better to go in person to make sure the color matches the sweater you want to hem.

Make sure you have the right scissors to cut a sweater. They need to be sharp so as not to deform the fabric while you cut it. ✂️
