I just tried this on a client’s bridesmaid dress and it worked beautifully!!! The only thing is the edges where there were seams did not want to fuse completely so I went in with some quick hand stitching to secure them. Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for posting! I am hemming a wedding dress with original hem fused. I'll alter with your method! Now I'm looking forward to getting done..the thought of hand sewing had me in not happy place! Love that you eyeball things as well.

This was such an informative video! Thank you so much - I've been binge watching you videos for the past couple weeks. So inspiring. I've started off by using patterns- trying to get the basics down with how to finish garments to a high standard, zippers etc.. Slowly but surely making progress

this is so out of the blue, but seeing all those pins stuck in the bed of your machine just made me smile... so familiar.. I think there is a magnet in the oil pan, to catch random stuff actually. Do you have an oil pan on yours? PS: great tip on basting the stitch witchery first, I'll definitely try to do that next time I use it.

The good: for brides in a budget who only care about the however I will never let her work on any of my dresses. I’ve owned a bridal shop for alimony 6 years now. What I’ve learned is even the most talented of seamstress measure. For Some things it isn’t work the risk of getting it wrong.

I am sorry, I really am I really hate to say this, but my jaw dropped when I saw this. I would flip the f out if a seamstress put that cheap crap on my wedding dress, it’s not a $10.00 kids dress. It’s a wedding dress, that is usually expensive, and is the dream of the bride, that’s put her trust in you to alter it professionally, which usually isn’t the quickest 2 minute option, and to cheapen it by using that crap and not have it properly altered, no, no way, I would freak out. It’s like disrespecting the gown and the client. Just because most brides don’t know what that crap is, doesn’t make it ok to use. Omg. I’m shocked. Especially by a “couture seamstress”. Then you are teaching other people to do it this way? I love that there are people in the industry willing to make videos and teach others, but it doesn’t do any good if you don’t at least show how the proper way to do it is. There’s a lot of hand sewing when it comes to bridal alterations ESPECIALLY couture. You don’t see a line if you handstitch a blind hem, properly, and it doesn’t take long, which would’ve the correct way if a client doesn’t want to see the stitching from the alteration. And stitch Witchery isn’t foolproof as it often pulls away from the fabric especially as it ages, it will catch on the satin and pull it. That’s just a no on a wedding gown 😬 I’m sorry that my comment is harsh I really am. But I can’t imagine a proper seamstress in business and teaching others to do it this way. I can say the only time I may have ever used it is to baste a zipper, and it’s not permanent. It washes away. I just feel as though wedding gowns deserve care and respect as do the clients. And when teaching it’s important to teach properly. Off my soapbox

You should show us how it is done on your RU-vid channel. I am sure since people trust her to make entire wedding dresses from scratch, that she understands the pros and cons of this method. For a wedding dress that is worn once, I am sure the clients are ok with it and I am sure she was honest about the different options they had. Not everyone wants to pay $100 for a hand stitched hem.

As a professional bridal seamstress, I totally get this! I was shocked myself. To each their own but it would be unacceptable to use stitch witch on a gown and IF I ever did, I would be upfront with the bride. This is definitely a no go for me... yikes!

@@seasonlong8962 I am glad I am not the only one. I am a designer and have been a seamstress for 40 years. I just couldn’t do a gown this way. Again I think people teaching sewing and keeping the art alive is a wonderful thing. But I have issues with the way some are done. “Couture” is so overused I scream when I see it. Using a mcalls or simplicity pattern and sewing a gown is not couture just because a nice lace is used. That seems to be the criteria across the web. The fabric, not the workmanship. People made tshirts and called them couture. But if you are going to teach “couture” then I would hope it’s done right. I wanted to make videos but time is an issue. I wish I had more of it. I even took the word couture out of my business name and rebranded even though I do actual couture sewing on MOST of my dresses and only those are labeled. It’s just easier to not watch videos. I always did as just because I have been a seamstress for 40 years and design bridal by draping method, I am a firm believer that I do not know everything and can always pick something up from someone. It’s why I probably have 100 designing/sewing books. Especially older ones. You can never learn enough. But I honestly wouldn’t want someone to learn this is in any way OK to do on a clients bridal gown. JMO
