Excellent. Thank you. And I am pleased to see this is a 'living' video thread. I mean current, not years old. So perhaps this is the right place for me to say this: What we need is an instructional on replacing/repairing men's trouser pockets. Very much. Especially working men, tradesmen and such. There is plenty sturdy work clothing out there but almost always the pocket material is thin and flimsy and gets worn through all too soon. I am trying to repair my own. Currently don't even have it planned out yet, what to do. Can't even decide on a fabric. I"m thinking of using denim. I want to ensure the pocket will outlast the pants (or shorts, most often shorts in Aus. )

I will put it on my list for a future video! I haven't tried repairing a pocket yet, but denim feels a bit too thick and stiff for a pocket. Do let me know if you tried it! I will do some research on my end.

I have actually repaired a pocket with thin faux leather. Very thin. Came from a 'leather' ladies jacket. I thought it might be too thick but it works fine. But that is a pair of work shorts, not a pair of city office slacks. I have used iron on patches in the past. Very clumsy and sometimes unreliable. I did the 'leather' fix by making up the whole pocket and sewing it on as best I could. Completely cut away the old one. Should say that was this 'leather' on both sides of the pocket, the whole thing. My feeling is that denim will work well for my purposes. I'm looking for old jeans to recycle. :)

That's interesting, faux leather! Thanks for sharing. I love to work with old jeans too, for little projects like wallets, pencil cases, and tote bags.

Hello, Thank you for the video, it's very helpful. I'm only stuck on a detail, in what direction are the two folds of the new hem folded towards please? Since the exemple in the video is black pants, the fabric is the same inside and outside so I'm a bit lost. The caption says the "towards the wrong side" at 1:19 but "wrong side" is confusing me more, sorry. The rest is super clear so I'm a little frustrated with myself for being stuck because of 1 small detail :(

They are folded towards the inside of the pants, that is what I call the wrong side of the fabric, the side that isn't showing when you wear the pants

Do I need a heavy duty sewing machine to hem denim jeans pants? Can anyone please help im confused
@MadamSew

No, you don't, you can sew jeans with a regular sewing machine, just buy a thicker needle, use a 90/14 needle for light- and medium-weight denim and a 100/16 for heavyweight denim.

Hi…does the needle-positioning ruler measure the scant quarter inch required in quilting? Thank you for your help.

Hi Louise, no it doesn't. We are looking into making a new version but this one only has the regulare 1/4 inch mark
