Good video. I'm finding this conflicting with Phil Michelson's hinge and hold or am I think about this wrong?

Hi! I've seen a view comments like yours over various vlogs and is a good point. I think Adams way is more straight forward set up, repeatable and more consistent for a lot of players. Phil is very skilled, uses his hands brilliantly and probably spent countless hours practicing, not to mention special grinds on his wedges. Hey, if you find a method that works for you, go for it.👍

Henry, What I'm demonstrating is the most commonly used chipping technique on Tour, quite different to what Phil does. I think it's easier, but Phil makes his method work super well. Best, Adam

Awesome video. I love my golf coach, but I simply do not agree with him wanting me to lean the shaft forward. Kind of eliminates the purpose of having bounce in the wedge if you ask me. I have a lot cleaner contact more often using your style although I also put about 70% of my weight on my lead foot.

Does this stroke still apply if your in rough grass like the one behind you in the video ?

Dermot, In most cases yes. However, if the rough gets somewhat deep you’ll have to hinge a bit and create a bit more energy and descending hit Best, Adam

My only issue is this video goes against everything Phil Mickelson (arguably top 10 chipper) teaches in chipping 101.

Michael, Phil is a hit and hold advocate, and is great at it. Most tour players, however, use this approach. It's personal preference. All the best, Adam

Great video. This is the main part of my game that's holding me back from getting down to a 5 HDCP. I'm so inconsistent around the greens and from 50 yards out. Chunk one, blade one, hit one good, etc. If I'm coming in too steep, is there any merit to pointing the toe to the sky and kind of coming in more shallow as the body turns through?

When you started off with a 9 iron, I knew you were on it. What 9 iron have you had the most success chipping with, as in brand and model??

Excellent chipping fundamentals video. I have a tendency to get hands too far ahead of ball and leaning toward target. This video gives me the framework to hit good shots around the greens.

David, On a short green side shot the loading of the club should be minimal. It adds flow and rhythm to the motion, in big swings speed Best, Adam

Good pitch and run setup advice, thank you. I like to close the stance. And use an 8 iron or a PW depending on how much I want it to run. The 9 Iron might be a good compromise? Seems to be some confusion between chipping around the green technique and mid range pitching? I struggle more with those 20-40 yard pitch plays than anything else. Short games so important to playing well. Do us a series would you?

Adam - I'd always thought I had to put the ball way back in my stance to keep from chunking my chip shots...turns out that makes my problem worse! Thanks for your great advice on how to chip correctly. Also I just picked up your Short Game Secrets free video series...it's great!

Thank you! I have been standing too close and not gripping down lower, placing the ball too far back in my stance. How the heck did I ever get the ball closer to the pin??? Now I will practice these great chipping tips! I might be able too get back to my old handicap of 18 (now a 28).

Ive been working on my short game and saw a video by pga tour pro, he said tuck your right elbow into your right hip flexor if your right handed, also the shaft in the middle of your chest for your short game. Ive been doing it for a few weeks and my contact is clean and distance control has improved dramatically.

Great stuff Adam. Mant golfers pull out a wedge by reflex when they get around the green. I blike to get the ball up and rolling and any club from 7 irom to wedge may be the right choice for me.

Another excellent video. The biggest difference maker for me is standing closer to the ball, this has helped me the most. I was shown this early in this season and I have been practicing it all season and it was a game changer.

Michael, Obviously I can't see you chip, but I think that the typical short pitch around the green (off a fairway lie) probably goes lower than the think. All the best, Adam
