This video is about the most important concept in the golf swing, bar none. It was good, but since it ultimately danced around the most vital aspect of this concept i have to share the most important missing piece, that being to *aim for the inside of the ball* . For the life of me i cannot understand why this isn't the most fundamental task in the world of golf instuction. This one thought alone, unlike any other thought I've ever come across sets the whole body into the proper inside to out chain of events that golf instruction has instead defined in isolation, to the interest of many, myself included, but to the complete detriment to a new student. There's perhaps a place for that study but having wasted so many years as a student in that world i can confirm none of it is anywhere near as helpful as the simple task of aiming for the inside of the ball for an inside to out swing. You see there's no way to go over the top or early extend or do any of the other dreaded actions 100 percent of new students do so long as you are aiming for the inside of the ball. But 99.99% of students do Not know this is the goal. I certainly did not. Instead. 99.99% of new students think the goal is to hit the center back of the ball. So they focus all their efforts on simulating a perfect pendulum. A very time consuming and frustrating process. But one would think professional instruction would provide the most important piece to the puzzle. Nope! Instead 99.99% of the golf instruction industry takes a reductive and segmental approach to the whole thing and makes it all so unnecessarily complex and mysterious. JUST AIM FOR THE INSIDE OF THE BALL and your body will naturally fall into all the proper places. Anybody who stumbles on this comment just saved themselves a life's worth of turmoil.
Just heading off to the range and this looks like it will massively help, Russell. Would it help to place something under the toes (tee/towel etc) on your lead foot to accentuate the feel of the pressure?
Id tell that golfer to look at the lower inside quadrant of the ball and feel like they are trying to hit the inside of the ball. If their eyes aren't focused correctly and they don't swing at the inside of the golf ball, there's not many swing changes that will ever truly help.
