Update on the splitter that I keep getting ask of, from this video: I couldn’t find exactly the model that I have in video, so I provided an alternative that would equally get the job done. If not, make sure you get a HDCP BYPASS SPLITTER. Thanks for sharing and watching!
I just bought the splitter from the description but no luck. I'm new to this and this is the first time I'm doing any of this I'm not sure what splitter to get
I can’t recommend a specific brand if that’s what you’re looking for but like mentioned in the description; just make sure whichever you purchase is a HDCP bypass splitter. Without the splitter, the capture card won’t function correctly by itself. Hope this helps!
@ZapCristal UPDATE: both of splitters I order just came in today and I'm having the same issue it's not working and I'm getting a black screen on OBS, the only thing I can think of is that it's not working because I did the last Playstation update and both splitters said they bypass 😢
No, I do not unfortunately. Thx for watching tho! Hopefully you can find something to help you out. If I find an article, I’ll make sure to forward it to you here.
Your 4k splitter in the video and the one on the link are different, the one on the link seems like it does not bypass hdcp which Elgato blocks.. Do you have the link for the one in the video?

So I have an HD60x and followed the steps but am getting no signal on OBS. Is there anything I can do? I’m getting perfect picture on my monitor it’s just the recording software
The issue can appear due to many things, but it is mainly related to the installed graphics drivers. It can also occur due to a bug in the current system update. Whatever the reason may be, it's pretty easy to fix the OBS Studio black screen issue. Link to article for possible fixes. www.movavi.com/learning-portal/obs-game-capture-black-screen.html

Thank you so much for this I can't even explain how much frustration you saved me from going through it's nice to find a good tutorial that doesn't assume you have certain things or make you search more tutorials I didn't even expect it to work out,, can't even explain how happy I was to see my laptop actually show the ps3 screen
I bought the blue logo’d HDMI splitter and it just keeps blinking the PS3 screen onto my elgato for 2 seconds at a time until going back to a no signal. It’s stuck in a constant loop of losing signal for some reason but I can actually see the PS3 when it blinks but I have NO idea why it’s doing that. I’m just going to return it if there’s no solution but by any chance do you know why it would be doing that? Genuinely so infuriating lmao
@@ZapCristal Would it matter if it’s the 1080/4K one? Also I am returning it but the only thing that makes me think it isn’t faulty is the fact my series X AND PS5 work on it lol. That’s why I tried swapping cords and all that but I am returning it and potentially downgrading to the 720P/1080P one to try again.
Any advice on how to get mic to work?? Will a regular ps3 mic get recorded if i wanted to talk to ppl via ps3?? (I already have mic for computer strictly asking abt player to player on ps3 lol)
The HDMI splitter I ordered has a tendency to block out the HDCP when I try to access a game or the PS Store. I tried that with the PlayStation 3 and man, what a pain in the ass. For whatever the reason, it causes the OBS screen to go black anytime i want to boot up a game or access something. Why is that? I need help. :( Plus the HDMI Splitter I got can bypass HDCP but when I want to access something else, yeah... black screen.
Have you tried going to your settings and turning off the HDCP cause if you do not turn it off , it will not let you do it ; not even with the entire set up.
@@ZapCristal That's only for PS4 and PS5. PS3 doesn't let you turn off the HDCP. If it did, I wouldn't have this situation. Thankfully there's always a workaround and it requires me to get the PS3 AV Cable.
I’m not 100% sure about this but If the issue is thru OBS, I would have you check your advanced audio properties, and make sure that your source is set to whatever device you are trying to get your audio from heard. Here’s an article that might help recorder.easeus.com/screen-recording-resource/how-to-record-desktop-audio-with-obs.html and you’re welcome ☺️
@@ZapCristal No, I don’t think this splitter extracts audio. My OBS has never had an issue with sound. I ordered one that extracts audio. Will have to send this one back. Thanks anyway.
Sorry to bother you again, but I have audio when I'm in the main PS3 menu but whenever I boot up the game it appears with no audio. Do I need to use OBS instead of game capture hd? Or is there something wrong with my splitter? (I got the one linked in your description and it said that it doesn't disabled hdcp, in Amazon description, so maybe that's it, although I can see the game and have audio only when I'm in the PS3 menu). UPDATE- i switched the PS3 audio settings to allow for multiple outputs and it worked(near the bottom of the settings list)
Ok! I’m glad you got it to worked but yeah, it definitely sounds like it could be an OBS issue since it’s the one broadcasting and outputting the audio. It’s a combination of both though, since the capture card is the one transferring the data from console to software. Definitely check out some articles for OBS audio settings
New video!🤩🥰😍 Will be showing behind the scenes how to capture footage from your retro consoles such as the PS3. We are using the elgato hd60s for this video! This video is specifically to help other Content Creators or Streamers out there.
I don't think you posted the link to the tech hole splitter both links on the top just go to an elgato if you can send the link in the comments that would be great
The list has been updated! The splitter that you will find in the description however is a different model due to the unavailability of the same. It should work just fine though. recommended products: 4K UHD Splitter: amzn.to/3GTyD4F Elgato Capture Device: amzn.to/3wcAOu2 Elgato Cam Link: amzn.to/3iAjdrT HDMI Cable: amzn.to/3zneDn5
I have a question I need some help if you can, but I have sound & video appears on my monitor just can’t get the video to come on my stream like my elgato keeps saying no signal.
For that, I would make sure that you connected your elgato correctly because if not, it will send like a red signal for not being able to broadcast the image and then also make sure, to Check your settings for your output video capture your device, thru your streaming software to make sure that it’s actually outputting whatever your capturing. Not quite sure exactly what it would be but as a troubleshooting option, you might want to start there.
I want to say yes but then again, it depends which PS3 model you have bc not all are easy to stream like this, therefore pay attention to the model I have in the video for the tutorial
This video has been super helpful. I’ve been frustrated on how to stream/record games on my ps3 but haven’t had any luck. The issue I’m having currently is that my ps3 will display on my tv however it will only display on obs/elgato capture for a moment then the display will disappear. Are there any settings that I need to change on obs?? I have all the hardware necessary.
@@ZapCristal I checked all my inputs and they all work. As far as the set up on obs, I create a new scene and I create a new capture device being the elgato hd60s+ but once I turn on the ps3 it will display on my tv and only for a moment on obs. I have a ps3 super slim, orei hd102 splitter and the hd60s+. This is a bit frustrating because every video I've seen on this seems to be plug and play.
@@ChIpZ582Any luck yet fixing this? Currently having the same problem - image appears on my pc only for a second when I first connect the capture card and then goes away. It gives me a black screen with the red HDCP error in the corner, keeps this black screen for a minute and then stops getting a signal from my capture card at all. Any help on this is appreciated!!
I have subbed I have the elgato 60 s+ and have bort 39 ps3 games lol I can't get on PC u reckon that splitter would work on my elgato capture card and only have one tv so do I need another monitor
You always will need a monitor besides your Tv for it to works plus whatever software you use to capture the same. The way it’s shown in this video should work.
@@ZapCristal awesome as i have a 4k tv and i can get a 1440 144hz monitor for probably 900 dollars but thanks for that i was able to uses my one tv for xbox but xbox one has 2 hdmi ports and ps3 has only one so one hdmi port went to tv and one went to pc and then i would start the recording on pc on geforce and then switch the screen to hdmi 2 and play on the xbox hdmi port while the elgato capture card brang it to my pc to be recorded but i couldn't find a way to do that for ps3 mainly to only one hdmi port i was so gutted when it had one hdmi port i bort my ps3 5 weeks ago and 39 games cost over 180 dollars for all the games i wanted separate like transformers collection ratchet and clank collection resistance and god of war and motorstorm.killzone infamous and marvel ultimate alliance and a load more pretty much games i can't get on steam or no backward compatible for xbox one cause ps3 had alot of exclusive games and ps2 most games work on emulator witch is awesome so thanks for your help it was exspansive but now been trying to find a way to record to pc at 4k revolution on pc while videoing 720 off ps3
I would want to say yes but would advice to always double check due to the manufacturing of every product, and how it can be different depending the brand.
Hello, I don't know if you're going to read this but...I just tried this method and I all screen on my TV but not on the elgato HD60, I'm pretty sure I plugged everything in the right place but I don't know what am I doing wrong. I don't know if it is related but I have the elgato HD60 S plugged into a HDMI converter and on PS2 and I can record PS1/2 Gameplays but every time I try to use it with the PS3 the Software says that I need to turn the capture device on. Can you please help me?
@@ZapCristal Thank you for your reply but I just solved the problem: I tested my PS3 with the elgato HD60 S and now it works, I have screen and audio, I will run some tests with GTA 4 just to make sure. There is something wrong with my elgato HD60, don't know what it is but I will try to test it with PS4 later.
Thanks for this! I wonder if I could play PS3 and talk to friends on Skype/surfing the Internet with just using this Elgato HD60S on the PC so I don't have to use an external monitor/TV? Still loved my PS3.
I would probably recommend having an external monitor bc depending what you’re playing, you don’t want to experience a game delay (lag) from just relaying on your PC. Check your internet and of course PC, to see what it can and cannot handle. Good luck!
As of the capture card itself yes, but you always want to consider other factors as well like your cpu specifications to therefore determine what you can and cannot do.
Did you make sure that your hdcp is turned off in the settings? Because if you don’t have it turned off, it will block any signal from any capture card .
Most def appreciate this one! Does this work for ps2 as well? I would love to stream so of the older titles, but I can't even get a regular ps4 stream to run properly through obs on youtube:-). So I stream directly the system.
No bc the PS2 does not have a HDMI port and the cables that are out in the market are not acceptable for the same. The one we use is the 60 giga model. If we find out, we’ll let you know.
@@ZapCristal In the past I've streamed PS3 as well as Atari VCS/2600! Although I used a Retron 77 for that in the past, I've actually bought a RF demodulator as the Retron does have a little bit of trouble playing some of my games(looking at you, Planet Patrol!!!)and I recently got a Colecovison too from my high school classmate who actually lives down the street from me heh! So I got a lot of games with it too yayx2!
