Boom! I broke my cylinder this week and ordered a new one from RockAuto yesterday. Im gonna try this tomorrow. Will let you know my results. Thanks for posting. Boom!
+conch77 I tried it today. It worked but there is a slight variation for my jeep. My xj is a 1995, 2.5l manual. To get mine to start, using a paper clip, I crossed the blue wire and the red wire closest to it (mine has two red wires). This turns on the ignition. Then TOUCHED the yellowish wire to the crossed blue and red. this starts the jeep. To shut it off, uncross the blue and red wire.
Should be 2 red 12volt power from fuse panel Yellow = Starter Blue = on/off Purple or Orange = heater/AC /windshield wipers/blinkers just take 12volt and touch it to each wire lead
Bro, you a f in life saver, this has got to work for me. I misplaced my keys also and well. Yep. Bad situation. Thanks so much man. If I got to I know what to do.
Good tutorial, thank you. I misplaced my keys and tried to hotwire my Jeep. Started right up with these instructions. What's missing, though, is how to disable the shifter interlock. Any tips on that?
Sean O'Brien next to the key cylinder there is a yellow plastic with a metal strip just forward of where the key goes peel that off and remove the plastic swivel and you can shift. Also you gotta turn the key cylinder forward to make the wheel not lock I peeled the plastic off and used vice grips to turn it forward.to unlock the wheel
This video saved my a** thank you so much My wiring was a little different but it did not take long to track down the right port so that I could put my windows up.
ok so since my jeep was broken into im not sure about the steering wheel. although this works in starting the vehicle, how did you get around the locked steering wheel?
