You guys are awsome. I'm a 48 year old So Cal surf rat who is new to hunting and loving the Land of the Free Series. You guys are an inspiration!!!! Thanks.
Amazing guys I just wanted to drop in and say the land of the free project really motivated me to push harder and go on more trips it was mainly whitetails in the Midwest and elk once in a while but this year I’ve got 7 different hunts I’m going on and I never would have in a million years pushed to do something of that stature but after seeing land of the free episodes it really just made me go for it and for that I thank you Shoot straight Never stop
I plan on hunting Oregon in a few years.....I will be using Go Hunt to scout for sure as a starting point....Long way from my state of Vermont....love the videos guys, keep it going!
to each there own !!!! love the video's bro's it's just awesome you can get all the same information for free to any state, with just a couple clicks. No Fee. Plus, all rules and regulations for each state you want to hunt, which is not given by gohunt that people seem to forget and come to states and hunt as they will. Local state or any state information is by far more accurate. Big game regulations books free also maps for any areas your looking to hunt $8 from the forest service, no long term fee. Happy hunting, work smarter, not harder.
Been waiting for this one. Live and hunt everything here. Big fan, seen the other and was hoping for a Oregon one. Thanks fellas. Eastern Oregon unit 50&51 mostly.
I been applying for elk tags in Wyoming for awile got 3 points do far for the area we hunt 2 years ago we hunting and my dad shot 7 6 sent it rolling down the hill but wee couldn't find it bummer we seen so maybe bulls that trip seen a herd of 20 bulls in one group
How cool in checking out warehoyser's maps of different spots I want to hunt. There is no access fees , looks like it's still state owned , witch is crazy , cause they pretty much sold off all of the state land back in the day to crownzilerback! Might have butchered that a bit lol. But even back then no gates and you could hunt all of it otc. diy. Yup comming home to go hunt .With that said does the Go hunt app give you the info needed if a guy wanted to hunt private land ?
What kind of information would you give to a guy coming from say, New Mexico into Oregon to hunt Roosevelt elk for the first time? The whole thing leaving the wife and kids home, jumping in the truck with a tent and the essentials to get by?
Bring rain gear just in case, Roosevelt's do talk quite a bit despite what some people say. They do not hold as close to water as Rockies due to there being an abundance of water in the coast range. In bow season they like to frequent north/northwest facing slopes when it's hot. A very good strategy is to hunt them in their beds during the middle of the day. Get in close to the bull and he will be more likely to come in. They can be finicky in the early morning and evening. Angry spike productions is another excellent source for Roosevelt hunting knowledge. Of course the BRO's are excellent as well!
I love born and raised, to you guys at born and raised, come to Idaho and ill do the calling!! It will make land of the free montana look like a cake walk happy to do so for real . Sorry to be a buzz kill all you hunters I never comment . born and raised you guys remind me of my hunting party love what you do and the sense of humor you have my info I'm a subscriber thanks for all you do peace out keep prayer alive!!!!
Soo don't go chasing those 300 inchers that sit in Jewell Meadows Wildlife Refuge in the Saddle Mtn Unit?! And don't even get me started on the weyerhauser permits if you're chasing coastal roosies, Oregon is tough for sure!! :)
Sheepdog Brethren , ya I wanted to hunt some of that Sattle Mnt Zone, but looks like Weyerhouser, has ftu, the state really messed up by not doing land lease back in crown days, man the politicians suck in Oregon. Now California, is working on the sale of their public land. Stupid . Do land leases you idiots ,but with a stipulation that people can still use the land .
I am coming to Oregon to hunt Roosevelt Elk. Don't worry, you wont see me, because I will be in the Jungle!!. Waiting for that Once in a life time opportunity!
Born and Raised Outdoors I would agree on that. Not sure what I should put in for either Tioga or the powers hunt. I have a few points but I’m not sure how much of the powers unit is available to hunt not being leased out. Decisions decisions lol
Can't really justify paying $150 to hunt. With what ODFW offers info wise and a little scouting you get better info and your actually seeing stuff firsthand. Sorry, that's just too expensive
guitardavepdx scouting if you live out of state? You better have more than $150 bucks saved up to make a couple “scouting trips” to travel to whichever state you want to hunt.... These guys use this tool to give them the best chance to be successful without having to travel to scout
Josh Sedivec that being said, there are tons of tools to use that are pretty much free. Google earth for example. You are already paying a ton for an out of state tag and license, to have to pay more for on online map and free info through fish and game, for someone who isn't hunting as part of a source if income is just ni reasonable for me. Having a single income and a family every cost is always weighed and measured. That is just too heavy
If I was going to hunt oregon or any other place I would buy it. With the statistics it gives you it will help you narrow down your options. That's just my two cents.
I'm gonna have to agree with Josh here. I believe this tool is for people who hunt across state lines frequently. Native Oregonians can probably afford to go on scouting trips, but the $150 is worth it, if you live in Wyoming. I'll have to agree with Dave that its just a little bit out of my price range for now, too, seeing as I'm only in Oregon. They should consider selling a product with only a few states on it for $30 a pop. If they buy 5 states, they should just get the whole product. Just a thought.
PS< were do you think they get there info, and who do you think is doing the scouting . will you trust them it's your money just have fun that's what it is about from hunter to hunter try it save your money for gear and gas that what the poor man does !!!
As far as general hunts on the coast of Oregon, pressure is ridiculous. I live in Portland, about 70 miles to where I hunt and if you are a first time out of starter and do not know a local, it is tuff, especially for rifle because general is only 4 days. There are people in Oregon that hunt the general coast without successful ly harvesting a bull Roosevelt elk!
like I said, fish and game or game and fish what ever its called were you live is free and on line $150 a year automatically withdrawn weather you like it or not and you have to jump thru 150 hoops to stop service, and your information being sold. I'd rather pay for gas for the adventure of the hunt. And get real hands on info, not take someone else's word for it.
Born in Oregon to a addicted to hunting family and now 64 years old I like to advise anyone thinking of hunting Oregon don't do it then waste your time and money because 90% of state lands are either locked up and no Trespassing lumber company lands or the woke and gay hippy animal rights freaks now running the states ODF and the state land managers also close off public lands for hunting and think it is wonderful to force hundreds of green horn hunters into small areas left open then comes the shooting and dead animal and guns pointing at people all claiming they shot the deer of Elk. At the cost of fuel and what else bought for the days of hunting then seeing hordes of hunters at gates or driving back and forth on very limited access to forest lands this isn't anything of good hunting. Even more scary now are the hundreds of Illegal immigrants from South of the U.S boarder in the forest with guns that shoot at everything even shooting into the brush over sound shots. I am hunting now other states and going to try for the New Mexico tag drag for open range Oryx in 2005.
