hello scrappers and planet lovers. This video will show you how to sort your aluminum in order to maximize your profits. I will show you the different categories and some examples of where you will find some of these items.
Happy Easter/ Holiday's Tinman to you and family! Another awesome video. I hit my 500 this week🙂 and I'm still learning a lot from you...keep em coming 👍🙂
Good video but those aluminum pots and fry pans you show are not cast. They're aluminum sheet cuz it was formed in a press, not a mold. Cast aluminum will always have a parting line from the two molds. Yes they do make cast aluminum pots and pans (brand name CLUB comes to mind), but what you are showing are not cast. If you can dent or bend the pot or fry pan, its sheet. Cast won't bend, it will break.
Informative video :) Some things seem to be sorted differently in my area of western canada and the prices are not as good (which is normal where i live). Frying pans and thicker sheet aluminum (can't easily bend with 1 hand) goes as low copper such as that angle bracket you showed. The vacuum tube goes in extruded and the heat sinks, depending on how they are made, i keep separate as they can never decide if it's extruded or something else when I take them in :) Have a great week :)
Frying pans as low grade copper is pretty nice though. Amazing how different scrap yards are in sorting and pricing only 1hour apart from each other. Stay well and enjoy your week as well.
I'm doing a scrap metal fund raiser for our Scouts in the States. I've gotten lots of great information for these kids. This has been alot of fun. And it's something I plan to continue. Thank you for these videos 😊
Thank you for the kind words and support, I appreciate what you do and proudly support Scouts for their dedication and preservation of our great world. All the best and keep informed as to the progress and success of your fundraiser.
@@TinManScrapper Im gathering, separating, and breaking some down at this point. Will be having foot Surgery in early July which will lay me up a bit. But I can still sit and break things down. While recovering. I'll continue even after the fund raiser but, I'll keep you posted. Your step by step direction has made this not only educational but alot of fun. For all the right reasons. It is peaking the kids interest. And I can play with my power tools again. 😊 Thanks Again!
@@kphelps5431 btw, what branch is your scout group, I would like to do a shoutout and best wishes to them on an upcoming video. I still have a few videos done, but I will let you know when I post it.
Tin Man you didn’t mention anything about the real thick heavy aluminum 6061? I have at least a good 300 lbs from the machines I built . a lot of parts are black anodized which is not mentioned in most videos if it’s the same price . so if it’s not any of the pieces you showed what category would they fall in and what price (i hope I explained that ok) thanks so much ……Shabbyscrapper
Shabbyscrapper here great video, I am not quite sure what a hardrive body would go under it looks like a great piece of aluminum but it definitely looks like it was made by a mold? cast or not ( they are so loud)
Thanks for the comment. I am going to do a video soon on zinc. Comparing brass and zinc faucets for example. I will get to it soon. Stay well and thanks again for watching.
Cans in the USA are more valuable bringing them to a redemption center. .5 cents each is better than by the pound like he said but I take it Canada doesn't have a bottle redemption program.
Yes, since I have a lot of clean and very little painted. Painted about 2 cents less a pound and if together, you will get painted price. Thanks for watching. Stay well
So if you had an complete aluminum frame from a 12x12 gazebo, where would you place that in those piles you have (I still have to remove all the steel screws left in it) it’s painted brown
If grooved and looks like pieces have been put through a press, then extrusion. I would say because it will be thicker like window frames, then extrusion. Good score for sure, I am sure there is some good weight to it.
Does cast aluminum matter if it painted or not? Should I separate it? I’m really having trouble sorting my aluminum. Not enough bins and I have a truckload full of extrusion, cast and sheet but I have a lot of items I have no clue what they are
Aluminium heats sinks are either extrusion or clean aluminum. If looks like put through a press then extrusion, if just smooth and no groves clean aluminum
I would say yes, for some of the look like they have been put through a press. However, there are some (found in computer towers) that are clean and not pressed. If in doubt, I keep them off to the side and let the scrap yard decide
Thanks for the comment. Some could be counted as extrusion and some would not. The ones that have a lot of grooves and or look like they have been put through a press could be extrusion, but the smooth ones would be clean aluminum.
I have a good question went to hwy 51 scrap In Louisiana sold and aluminum boat when I went to get the cash they put it as 10% aluminum and only gave 7 dollars 90 lb boat how is a solid aluminum boat bring less than bags of cans 🙄Ik I got ripped off royally also clean copper #1 they put as dirty and # 2
Extruded aluminum is a much higher quality than other types. Heat sinks and window frames, for example, are a higher quality aluminum than say, a frying pan or lid or soda can. Many scrap yards will pay more for the higher quality aluminums.
I actually have a separate video on how to remove the steel coil from underneath. If brought in as is it would be dirty cast aluminum and around 5 cents a pound. Well worth taking out the heating coil
