Might take a little more time but a full screen view of the front and back while you narrate would be nice. You mentioned a small type of font to keep an eye out for and I couldn't make it out. This is partially my fault as I do typically watch your videos on my phone. Great information and video, thank you.

Yeah in the future I will do these where you can see the postcards full-screen! And hopefully will do a lot more videos like this.

Like the video! I took some of your advice when I wrote to you a while back. Doing pretty good on Ebay selling the postcards. I deal in all kinds of vintage and this works great selling vintage postcards along side my other vintage collectibles. I do like when I get large lots, you always see something new.

Great video! The Dardanelle postcard is Mt. Nebo, I was born and raised about 90 miles from there.

Thanks again for your insight on how to identify Valuable Postcards. Because of all your Videos on Postcards I am buying better higher end postcards and continuing my education on what to look for. I really appreciate your videos, Thanks :)

It's always a pleasure watching these. Daniel, I was wondering if you have cards that go missing or never get scanned at all with Ebay Standard Envelope? I've had to refund quite a few people lately for cards that never show anything on the tracking (no origin scan or anything). Thanks for the great videos.

A few but very rarely! Maybe 2-3 per month out of 500 orders. I always submit a claim through eBay standard envelope insurance when this happens though, so no money comes out of my pocket.

I wished I looked longer at the 3/$1.00 cards at the last stamp show. I got 2 that might be worth 5-10 each. The other seller was $1 each or marked and I wasn't sure his markings or previous sellers. It was confusing so I only bought 2. My favorite was an RPPC of Los Gatos Cat Statue, "Cat Asleep". None of that image on EBAY.

Oh cool! Yeah most dealers will be happy to explain anything if you have questions about their prices.

I have no problem selling or collecting confederate / confederacy related items. It is part of American history and should be remembered as such.
@mailseum
@mailseum 5 месяцев назад
My problem with it is that the vast majority of collectors of such memorabilia have no interest in the true history of these monuments. Most were not constructed after the war to honor the fallen, but in the early 1900s as a response to white Americans feeling threatened that minorities were gaining more rights. They are monuments to white supremacy and ignorance and hatred. For more reading about the history of monuments, check out the Southern Poverty Law Center’s study and data on confederate memorials and monuments.

@@mailseum True, many of the "true" memorials to the lives lost during the war were erected in the 1860's to 1880's. From then on up to the 1930's many were erected to commemorate the White Supremacy movement/policies of the Jim Crow era. Whichever stance is taken, it is part of history.

Pretty informative video. I have trouble with title keywords and format for postcard listing on eBay. Do you have any videos about that? I've scrolled to past videos but didn't find anything.
@mailseum
@mailseum 5 месяцев назад
I’ve talked about it briefly but I don’t think I have any videos about it. But here’s how I format my titles: Subject City State Keywords Year Postcard So for example a title might look like: Billy’s Service Station Athens Georgia Old Cars Gas Pumps c1940 Postcard For keywords you naturally learn what people collect over time and then add those to your title. Postcard showing old cars, trains, interiors, diners, theaters, stores, street scenes, beer/alcohol, and on and on and on.
@tacticalmindsetelite
@tacticalmindsetelite 5 месяцев назад
@@mailseumthank you. Do you use the entire title of the pistcard for the subject or shorten it for the sake of adding keywords at the end?
@mailseum
@mailseum 5 месяцев назад
It depends, if some words in the subject don’t seem important I’ll leave those off but I try to get the whole subject in the title.

The AR RPPC should do well Daniel

That’s one of the ones that sold, it went for $35! There were some other similar views like it that had sold, plus mine had the fading issues, so it probably went for a little less than it could have otherwise.

How do you define “pretty decent” money
@mailseum
@mailseum 5 месяцев назад
Which postcard did I say that for?
@Aaramlias
@Aaramlias 5 месяцев назад
I have about 40+ postcards and a lot of them are from the 1950s from a 90+ year old collector. Unfortunately some of them are in rougher shape then the others and many of them are missing the stamps even though they have writing on them and they are posted with their dates on them. Does that effect the value much for them? I looked many of then up on Ebay and couldn't find many of the exact ones. I also have a unique ad one that looks a Christmas invitation done up in a cartoon that is signed too to a party that is from the 1970s done in green ink Would something like that be worth anything? It actually looks like a postcard as well on one side only. The other side is blank. It's from eastern Canada too. Not sure if that helps.
@mailseum
@mailseum 5 месяцев назад
Missing the stamp doesn’t really affect the value unless the person who removed the stamp caused damage to the postcard. It would certainly be worth something, but the value could have a wide range depending how collectible it is and how uncommon it is!
@Aaramlias
@Aaramlias 5 месяцев назад
@@mailseum Does it matter if it's from another country? A lot of mine are from Canada because i'm in eastern Canada. What do you think about the Christmas card I mentioned? It' looks a lot like a postcard but I think it may be a unique one because it has the street name right in the cartoon on it. Have no idea where to start with pricing the postcards I have right now and the Christmas card too. It looks so much like postcard I originally thought it was one. Nothing on it's back though.

Huh? That's unusual for an RPPC dated 1941? I thought they stopped printing RPPC's between 1933 - 1939 when Chrome Era cards took over. Interesting.

I’ve found RPPCs from as late as 1994 before! Although it’s very unusual to find RPPCs after the 1950s.
