Thank you. to clarify does aztfexport update existing tfstate file? . cant seems to get drift changes imported into my existing tfstate file. i tried the append set to my existing state file but aztfexport see all as new resources . Procedural i must be doing something wrong or perhaps it is a manual process and need to compare the changes and refactor my existing tf code ?

I am not sure if this would work as aztfexport would create a new statefile and then add any extra resource you want to import as an append. I will need to try this out before confirming but fair question. Thanks for commenting and a feedback

It's not importing VMs , it's skip the VMs , do we know how to import only VMs , suppose if you have 100Vms in one resource group, how to import VMs configuration

That's interesting. I haven't tried it for VMs yet , will check it out. Tanks for letting me know

Is this how you import resources in your production projects, or do you utilize ADO pipelines? Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. No, actual production resources always go through the devops. This tool is just something worth exploring and can be used . But you will need a lot of work after importing the resources. This will work well in certain scenarios when you are working locally.

Very stupid question but... how did you login on VSCode using az login? is it any extension?

No question is stupid. Use the terminal in your vs code . Have the az cli installed in your syatem and you should be fine 😊🙏🏻

Must be a problem with the command. Can you try exporting just one resource using the id? You can then export the resource group as a whole.

What if you have resources in multiple resource groups

Or we need to get tfstate for entire subscription

Hello there, as of now you can import the RG or the resource at once. You can however, append to exisiting state so probably you can look in that direction.

@@skillbuilderzone append works well but does not make sense if you have reference changed.
