Hey dude, thanks for this tutorial BUT do you have any suggestions on what to do when the inserted file displays as "OFFLINE" and won't play any sound?

@@kikiwritings Hey, so what you have to do is make sure the file is an MP3. M4A etc won't work. There are free websites out there that will let you convert your files to MP3. Once you do that you should be able to drop it in and it'll play just fine. Let me know if you get it working, good luck!

Where exactly are you stuck? I just did the process shown in the video few hours ago using latest Reaper release and it worked fine both on Mac and PC.

@@Likeohmyme Most likely you need to configure audio output in preferences, so that Reaper knows where to send the audio data to.

I got it to work. I think I was trying to import a bad file. Tried a different song and it worked easily. Now to figure out how to remix. I think I need a controller
@tomasdabasinskas8977

@@Likeohmyme Great. If you're only figuring out how to do a remix of a song, the last thing you need besides s**t-load of other outboard gear is a controller. It's all in your head and heart. Get some free VSTi's, work out the idea and your set. The more gear you have as a beginner, the harder it will be for you to concentrate on the music itself. It took you some time to figure out how to import an audio file into a DAW. Now you need to find your way around that DAW, find VSTs, learn to control those, work out an idea on the remix, convert your thoughts into digital data, arrange, mix, master. That's a lot. Now if you start collecting unnecessary hardware like controllers and other shiny things, the finish line will be never. Just an opinion of mine, of course. You do it your way, Brian! Good luck.

Got a question by Joeys48 like this: Hi Tomas.....Is there a way to split the parts of a track (right -left) and place those in separate tracks? Thanks for it Joeys48 and to answer it. Yes you can split stereo files (media items) placed onto Reaper's timeline into two separate tracks by separating them by channel - Left and Right that is. To do this: 1. double click a stereo item you want to split in the Reaper's timeline. 2. look for "channel mode" drop-down menu button somewhere in the middle of the "media item properties" you just opened by doing the first step. The button should say "Normal". 3. Click on that button and choose "Mono (Left)". Then click "Apply" and "OK". Now you have the left channel of your item instead of the whole stereo file showing in the timeline. 4. Duplicate that track (not the item) by right clicking on the track and choosing "Duplicate Track" from the drop-down menu. 5. Now you should have two track with the same left channel item on them. Select only the item on the new duplicated track. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 for it only once on step 3 choose "Mono (Right)" as your preferred channel mode instead of "Mono (Left)". 6. That's it. Now pan your tracks hard L and hard R and you have the same thing just on two mono instead of one stereo track. Hope that helped and you'll find my response here.

Tomas Dabašinskas hi, I did what you've shown and everything is good, but I can't seem to hear the individual sounds that I want to import, and can't play them on my, controller thanks for your video

put that microphone away from your mouth , I can hear the saliva flowing as you speak, its discusting
@tomasdabasinskas8977
@tomasdabasinskas8977 5 лет назад
Red Point It is impossible to adjust mic’s position after the video is uploaded to YT and four or five years have past. Also the recording was done early in the morning and my mouth was dry, so the saliva flow is just a product of your imagination. Also you should concentrate mote on positive things you took from the tutorial. You won’t be able to control everyone’s saliva and I’d advise you start liking the sound of it flowing. Also you should have more respoct to people giving you stuff for free. As long as it’s not saliva in its analog form.

@@INeverWanted2010 na, dude just couldnt accept his low Quality video sounds disgusting. He put a poor excuse instead. He might be better at recording now, don't know, don't care. If his ego got hurt by my coment thats fine, he got the critisism and that's all that mattered to me. And let me ask, what are you trying to achieve with this? revive an old settled conflict? rather despicable, and pointless.
