How to IMPROVE at PVP in DayZ

One of my favorite techniques is if you manage to see a player moving in a certain direction as if they're flanking, flank the same direction yourself but flank so wide that it is almost comical why you are going that wide. You will shoot so many people in the side or back as they pass by you on their own flank.

By far the best tip is to gain experience by getting involved in PvP. It can be reasonably easy to avoid it if you’re careful enough. But don’t do that. Play carefully, but do so in order to spot players before they spot you. When you feel you have the opportunity to strike, do so. And learn from whatever follows.

What a fantastic video. I’ve been a dayz player for a while, so though this isn’t necessarily for me i can tell newer players that this is far and above the best PVP guide video out there. Pvp in DayZ is unlike any other game, truly. This is not COD. Combatting a player requires real thought and quick-time strategy. KB’s focus on everything BUT the types of guns you have is spot on. My Unsolicited advice? Learn the map. Learn the map. Learn the map. Learn the map. This is inherent in a lot of KB was saying.

that was an amazing vid with a boat load of useful information for a relative noob like myself. hopefully i'll get better at pvp after thinking about all the info you just shared and putting it to good use. pls keep content like this coming because it seems i need all the help i can get lol

I have 2 favorite PVP memories playing Day Z The first had me tracking this player for about 2 hours in a server. Always one step behind him, I was tracking the trail he left from a Military outpost he picked clean. By this point I was fairly well supplied. A Blaze, a Deagle with a couple full mags, and a Scorpion with about a dozen fully loaded mags. Finally track him down to a little podunk village police station. I pull out my Scorpion. Keep in mind, I had no clue he was in there. I thought I was still on his trail but following. Nope. I stand still inside and hear footsteps and shuffling above my head. I pull out my Deagle, run up the stairs into the second floor armory and get into a shootout. Burn through a full Deagle mag to knock him down and plant one last round in his head. Turned out he had a Bizon and a Scorpion that had jammed allowing me to take him out. Other than that, he had burned through all the ammo and supplies from the Military Outpost and other buildings. All that tracking for nothing since the Bizon didn't even have a Magazine. Still, the Deagle came in clutch. Still dropped it since ammo was impossible to find. Second occurance was the second character I created after getting the hang of the game. Run into town, find a Makarov pistol with 5 rounds in damaged condition. Load a round in the chamber and I hear a door open across the road. Someone was searching the news stand so I booked it across the street. Was also a New Player who had a Ruger .22 Pistol. Without even thinking I put a round in his head because my previous character was backstabbed in a trade. He didn't have any .22 ammo, no mag in the gun, not even a round chambered. I felt so bad because I probably ruined that guys day basically executing him right after he spawned

Great advise, I tend not to use excess force ( gear is just ruined and useless) , understand the size of the gun ( I've always said it's not about the size of the barrel but how you use it... right) I put my hands up for been to geared but subscribe to the 7 P's formular.. Prior Proper Planning Prevents *iss Poor Preformance. Keep us the great content Ms Beanz.

Double tap is such a pain. Im still somewhat new and the last 2 days have taught me once again I need to finish the job every time. 1 guy I hit with a Mosin from within 100m so thought he was dead as hell. Messed up my keyboard and he got up but I found him and put him down. Today I had an iron sight tundra and knocked a dude fleeing our gun fight on the edge of town. He got up and I couldn't find him after scouting around heavily 😔 Always double tap them somehow! Also, nice shots in the vid 👌

Great vid thanks ! A small technical note : you might need to tweak your encoding settings on your video editor because the video is in 1080p60fps but it's really blocky at times (typically in moments like in 1:24) which makes it look like it is in 144p :)

That 1st rule was the most important

I lasted 120 hours with my first character, mostly due to favouring stealth over combat. Died in my first firefight after getting brave enough to take someone on lmfao

guys, only have a big backpack on you when you are going on a huge loot run for your base, or raiding someone. but if you're out to grab some basics, i reccomend utility buttpacks, furlap bags, assault vests (with attatched buttpack if possible). Ghillie rifle wrap is very heavy, do not reccomend.

learning how to lock onto a target on a controller is most people's issue with pvp on console. I fing strafing with the left thumb stick rather than trying to follow a target with right thumb, is much more precise and effective.

Very nice explanations of everything your doing! I cant seem to lean while aiming and moving at the same time very well. You make it look fluid while peeking around corners.

Hey killbeanz, Any advice on close quarters pvp? I have no problem with players at any distance but up close and personal I suck. Examples: Bunker run - myself and two others, vs 2 geared players. It became a 3v1 and we searched around metal gear style for this other guy. When i came face to face with him I choked. Normally i don't ever fight within 10 feet but we were basically hugging, running around doorways and pillars, but he got me as I was peaking. He walked out prefiring and got me before I could make a shot. Cherno tall buildings - I was stalking a player on top of a tall building, creeping up through the stairwell, when I heard another player approaching from underneath. I sat at the top of one staircase and waited to get a 3rd person look. He peaks around and headshots me with ease without hesitation, as I was waiting for him to walk up on me, I thought I'd get the jump on him but it didn't matter, the guy was super quick on the draw. Thanks for the content and advice!!

All you have to do is lean when you shoot, you'll never die in a gunfight ever again!

I truly appreciate the the advice but I think you're forgetting the biggest problem that goes against everything you said: the connection! Lol I lose 60% of the time due to lag, especially on servers with a lot of people. =[

The best way to improve your pvp skills in Dayz is to practive on deathmatch

My problem is that I'm more interested in feeding myself and building bases than killing players. I try to be friendly to people but that keeps getting me killed more often than not. Eventually this will turn me into a sociopath and I will kill everyone I see in dayz on site lol
