I've never seen a receiver with a single wire fm antenna. I have done the same thing with portable radio in my garage - looped the wire around coaxial tv cable that goes up into the ceiling into house and now I pickup fm stations from 120 miles away in stereo.
I just bought a stereo system that has a single wire antenna with a connector in one end, reception is bad. I've been trying to find a better one. But this, would it work if I expose the wire end of the antenna and attach copper wire? Could it be that simple?
It may be a rinky dink stereo, but my newer CD/tuner/cassette/stereo unit has a one wire antenna. The tuner is fine if the station's strong enough, but we're 2 miles away from a radio antennae repeater forest, so, we get a lot of static for a lot of stations on this tuner, I'll be giving this a try this weekend, hope it works this well!👍🏻

Some times foil will work.. Back in the old days > we would wade them up on the TV antenna.. IDK WHY THEY QUIT MAKING CRYSTAL RADIOS? Back when i was a kid > we use to make them. They was awesome 👍👍

What I did; I stripped the wire so the copper wire is exposed.” On the wire, then I took gum rapper and rapped it around the end of the wire. I put 2 gum rappers at the other end where it connects to my radio; I get KFTX 97.5FM t come in so clear!!
Get you some speaker wire like he said about 20ft get the double strand 1 slver 1 gold color in 1 wire. Run it up the wall in the middle of wall top of ceiling split that wire into a T shape go 5 ft 1 way 5ft the other ...enjoy!!!!
With your Front teeth strip appx. 3/4 of wire insulation then form a ? shape in the bare part then hook on Antenna: input and tighten down a smidge" attempt to position the wire vertically then choose FM on the receiver and begin searching for something to listen to. Enjoy !!
Doing a experiment on A blue tooth card reader FM BOOM BOX radio. Its got a USB plug in. See if this USB WIFI antenna booster will work > to get a stronger signal IF it does? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME

I have a Crosley radio/cd/cass/turntable player that the wire antenna is missing from. Can I reattach that? I bought an external antenna, and plugged it into the aux in and got no improvement. Are there any alternatives I can try?
Connect the wire to the spot the old antenna wire was connected to. If there ain't no existing antenna wire, find the spot where the antenna wire should be, take the shell off the radio and the connection spot will be evident. This is where you solder the wires at
The antenna wire on this old stereo is missing all together. All I see on the back of the stereo is a little hole where it used to be. What do I have to do to fix that.?
You are attaching your antenna to GROUND ! Ground goes to pipes ,2 other wires are Not attached to each other...Dipole antenna .The Tuner Antenna terminals are made for this...
@@KooperSalmo I have 2 "boom box" style radio's. One in the shed with a single wire attached to the radio antenna and going up to the 7 ft ceiling and running the length of the 24 ft long shed. At 1st the recpetion was incredible and clear. But then i would come back and reception was crap with static all over the place. 2 days later it sounded good, back a few days later, sounded like crap and nothing has moved. The same issue with another panasonic boom box style radio in my man cave room, a single wire attached to my radio antenna, it runs into my wall and up into my attic which is about a good 17 ft high and runs along the rafters which is about a good 40 ft. Thats one long antenna wire. Same results, one day its clean and clear, other days static all over, then back to clean, back to static. Nothing is moving, nothing is changing. Not sure why this happens ....

It happens when you connect a long wire antenna to a small radio, making it susceptible to electrostatic discharges (ESD) against which it has no protection. Thus, when you hook up a large antenna to a portable radio, it can definitely harm the radio. Some more expensive sets may have built-in ESD protection and some of these may even have a socket for connecting an external antenna; there you are safe. But if you have a compact radio, or a boombox type of set, in the interest of saving your set from harmful overloading, it is better to be happy with the telescopic antenna provided and not embark upon misadventures with longwire external antennae.
@@bhaskarsinha1527 it came with a fixed sized rubber antenna that just folds up or down. With the long wire i do get MUCH better reception but only when it wants to work. With the stubby rubber one, i can't get anything in the shed.
