I've been in the Programming/IT field for over 20 years and I do NOT recommend changing this setting. Unless you're running an extremely old computer, It's best left up to your system in the vast majority of cases. [Edit]: Explainer, below cut- RAM and CPUs have simply gotten so fast that the compression is done on-the-fly/offcore and does not effect performance in any meaningful way. If your computer was made after 2010 forcing a mem compression state change might actually decrease your performance, especially on AMD systems. Windows 10/11 does generally well at knowing when it's being rate limited and will change the method accordingly.

@@hadiamrane PageCombining is a type of garbage collection where information that is the same (EX: .DLL file loaded twice in memory) is combined into the same physical address. It's ran periodically and helps cut down on information redundancy, reducing memory footprint, and increasing the speed at which information can be accessed through multiple programs, by way of the CPU Scheduler. If it's off then it's likely you have enough RAM to not need that type of consolidation freeing your CPU to do other things than manage that memory space. (Typically it's off when you have a large amount of physical memory or a slightly weaker CPU.)

Hi Pajno! In my case, for the first 15/20 minutes it works really well and the change is very noticeable. But after that, the transition between frames feels weird. I don't understand what the fuck is going on. I5 9400f RTX 3050 16gb 2666 mhz MC was enabled, but I switched it to disabled

I tried this with a non K 12700 and RTX 4070 combo and this helped alot in a few open world games. Namely, Starfield and Farcry 6. Both known for lots of world transitioning micro stutters. Now gone. So far haven't noticed any decrease in performance but world's different on those stutters. I figured maybe this helps because I'm running slow ddr4 3200 ram. I dunno. It works. all that matters

Well I carried out this Powershell command change on a Lenvo Leigion T5 26AMR5 mini tower with a AMD Ryzen 7 5800 CPU, 32GB DDR4 ram and a RTX3070 GPU, UWHD monitor resolution 3440x1440 and this change has indeef got ridden of a majority of my in game stutters, for MSFS2020 and OpenGL for DCS. On a Win 11 DX12 PC So I'm one happy customer., thanks😊

I have an issue and I don’t seem to be able to find the source of it, Id be playing and the game freezes for 1-2 seconds, it produces the sound when you connect and disconnect a USB or a monitor. Super annoying and for fps games (COD Ranked), can get you killed. Anyone has gone through the same? How did you solve it? Thanks!

I am on a 4090 with 13600k and it significantly helped the stutter on Hogwarts. I did additionale the Control Flow guard disable and the command in the edit file. Even when i went through the Doors it did not needed to load. Traversal stutter was gone aswell when i paar the dark Forest entry (it sturered everytime no matter what i changed). It is quick Testing so far, but maybe it will help some of you. Thanks panjno

I am on a Intel I9-9900K mostly play Lost Ark, an older Unreal Engine 3 game with Easy Anti-Cheat and loading the game, switching zones, even opening UI elements such as guild or auction house comes with microstuttering. noticed the difference right away. game no longer stutters or freezes read a lot of comments that newer CPUs dont really need to disable this, but I definitely need this

I've got an issue with the new warzone if you have any ideas. It crashes as I drop in to a game every time unless I have resizable bar enabled. Enabling it stops it crashing but I get random frame drops and stutters plus my FPS goes from 170 average without rebar to 120 average with rebar so I'm losing 50 fps by having it on. I've tried everything I can think of but it crashes everything with out it on. GPU - RX 7600 CPU - i5 10600kf

When I was getting a new laptop and I try and download for CS:GO, it runs perfectly fine. 5 years later of using the laptop, my CS:GO is no longer smooth as it was. I got a lag stutter. I have been doing this for YEARS brother. It was called Super Fetch before. And no, it doesn't really help much in games really, but it mostly helps when you have a fast SSD as this tech was made with slower mechanical HDD's in mind.

Any reason I would be getting screen tearing with a 4090? I’ve tried 3 diff monitors.. 1080p 240hz I notice screen tearing, 1440p 144hz screen tearing, and 1080p 144hz screen tearing. Even with G-sync I notice it.. only when I put V-sync and G-sync does the screen tearing disappear.. BUT.. I can’t deal with the input lag. I have a i7 13700k and a 4090.

Could you please do a video on Battlefield 2042 to get the best optimization. Some people are having 100% cpu usage and then the game would stutter. Mine does it too with the AMD 5800X which should be fine to run the game.

Hello. I have a ryzen 5900x with a 3060 and 32gb of ram. During the GetMMAgent i had every setting set to false and MaxOperationAPIFiles at 256. Not sure if this is concerning or not im not much of a computer wizz and i understand a decent amount of things but this i do not. I can assure you that i have never changed these settings and came to this video for low fps is fortnite (i know im lame) because im only getting 150-160 fps while doing things in a blank practice map which i would like to figure out because ill get solid 360 when standing still but the second i start moving it drops. My old specs, ryzen 2600, 1060 6gb, with 16gb ram i would get more fps and im not sure why this machine is preforming low.

@@inflatablepeas6649 arguably I do better pvp because it’s smoother with freesync. Hands down prefer a consistent and smooth game. Latency is unnoticeable what so ever. I’ve done lots to lower latency in other forms of system optimizations anyways. I say just keep that shi on all the time. Easier that way Sorry to break the bad news but 99.9% of players arnt playing games to win $100k to buy food.

This setting is worth disabling on lower end systems but on a high end system with an m2 I do not recommend disabling it cus it might make certain stuff slower. But great video as always, could definitely help some people with hdds.

@@GarethMcD-zq8ei Don't believe OP. M2's are fast but LZ4 compression for RAM is an order of magnitude faster than page swapping off an SSD. Turning memory compression on or off is entirely dependent on how much RAM your system is using. If you are consistently approaching your RAM cap, you will see a benefit from having it ON, because memory compression is much faster, but you lose an amount of total RAM capacity for the compressed memory because it isn't being swapped to the SSD. Turning it OFF is only recommended when your RAM capacity is much higher than any usage you ever see.
