I have been tracking a lot of badminton tutorials over the past year or so, and your couple of videos have taught me more than all the hundreds of other videos that I have watched . THank you.
I clicked this video cause I wanted to chuckle at another goofball who doesnt know what they are doing (looking at you, E-how badminton), but you are really informative and know exactly what you are talking about! I hope more people watch you than those other goofballs currently trying to teach badminton when they themselves cannot do anything.
This is actually good advise, but has to be complemented with other tutorials. Because the problem with other tutorials, they often miss explaining some parts of the movement and the full use of body multiple parts. I found this useful after watching several other tutorials with ongoing testing of smashes on court. It's a very difficult skill to master.
Hi, Coach! Could You plz clarify the exact movement of the wrist (hand)? Do I have to rotate only or I have to make a small "nod" in the end? Currently I tend to have rotation only and I finish may stroke with my wrist straight (not bent at all). To put it another way, does the wrist have some swing/ bend component in the final phase or it is all to do only to rotation 100%? Perfect if You can demonstrate in 1 to 10 slow rate to real tempo. Just emphasize the wrist behavior (not full kinetic chain). Tanx in advance!
how to use the wrist to control the racket face?? I always slice the shuttle when hitting.... because your video show the racket face always rotate from outter to inner.......
Hi, I am not sure if I completely understand the question. Would it be possible for you to film it, share the link and than I could commend it or explain it a bit more details (like when do you cut it (only the smash or?) and what situation? Normally, many players cut the smash because of a lack of preloading in the wrist (or sometimes even over-preloading) rather than wrist control.
so the keypoint is preloading in the wrist? you mean if I always make wrist preloading then I could avoid cut the shuttle?? could you tell me the preloading must be natural or Deliberately? I will make a film to show my problem, thanks a loft for your kind reply.....
Hi Phil, thanks for the question. The hip movement is the start of the kinetic chain, so the hips will create a movement in the spine which together with pulling your left arm will speed quite a lot the shoulders and therefore the elbow as the next join and so on until the head of the racket.
Hi Phil, actually they do :), and they do it quite a lot :). Most of the biomechanics researches we can step on are based on analysis of many top players, including Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei. Of course the tactical situation also influence how much each player could utilize properly the whole body rotations but when they are totally offensive (TO), they all do it :).
Stefan Ljutzkanov thank you for this information stefan! I have been doing a lot of research into the physics of how to get more power from shots. What I have found out is that this is the old movement and not used that much in high level badminton anymore. I was doing this movement and getting frustrated as a player why I couldn't get that much power. The new system which I'm teaching all my players is creating a much more powerful hit and achieving amazing results with less energy used. You are more than welcome to try it :)
hi Phil,I think I will post a biomechanical video analysis of top Elite players but that's not connected with trying something. Please post me a link or video of you way to do it :)
hello, thank you for the video. here at 28:30 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZV9xpAlJvhI.html you can see a slow motion of liliana natsir smash. Could you do an analysis with this video? Her smash is very powerful and the angle of the video is very good.
