Neil Make your tasks specific. For example study for chapter 1. How? Break it down into small chunks and you’ll know what to do and what to do next. If you’re stuck focus on the first step than moving to the next step.
@Clau007 getting started applies to sticking to stuff. Because you have to continually get started. But once i start something i won't stop. I only stop beginning something for long periods of time. But spemd long amounts of time on something.
I literally failed in most of the math mock exams through high school but I got one of the highest scores in the finals with the preparation of only two months so don't worry guys first learn how to teach yourself then you can learn anything! Simple!

I totally agree with practice and practice. When I was in 7th (8th currently) I couldn't do factors and quadratic equation direct formula and I practiced alot. Today I am 12 but I am really really good with calculus. If I can Do such improvement in an year , you can too!
I used to hate maths until last year but this year the teacher I'm taught by has really made me see the beauty of this subject. I never thought I'll hear myself saying maths is a wonderful subject. My teacher says maths is about expanding your ability to think logically, not finding the solution of the answer.
Let me tell you a story how I become good at math with a little effort at all. I've always hated math since I was a kid and suck at math when I was grade 1 to grade 5. But in the summer I started a hobby making origamis (paper folding). I created a lot of models at that time and i loved making origamis. When I turned grade 6 i suddenly started to understand math easily. Solving geometry is so simple for me. I got the highest score on each math test. Lol I didn't even study hard at all. I just listened to the teacher and solved the problem right away. I didn't practice. I started to love and embrace math. Up to college I carried my mathematical skills and graduated cumlaude in a Physics degree. It's not my conclusion that practicing origami can make you a pro at math. But i suspect it greatly. Maybe because making origami used a lot of geometry.
1. Understand the underlying concepts, know how and why each step works. 2. Know beforehand why are you taking the particular step to move closer to answer 3. Practise more and more. 4. Seek help when stuck for longer time. 5. Repeat.

I am 26 yrs old and i am very pathetic in maths but after watching this video and it's a 2023 day 1 decided to build a solid foundation in Maths. Maths is future in every aspect of Life.
We have two modes of thinking The focused(which is more logical and detailed) and the diffuse which is much a bigger picture. Sometimes you needed to use the diffuse mode because relaxation is also part of solving hard problems.

I honestly underestimated the importance of actually identifying every variety in the way math questions could be asked. There could be a math question that you know how to solve but is in the disguise of a weirdly worded question.
When im in a situation like that i tend to break down the question into easier wording or i list the info. i already have and just solve for what im missing

I have always been more skilled and more interested in English and history. Due to this, I always assumed math would be the same. Just reading, memorizing things, no practice needed (I mean, you practice reading, but for as long as I can remember, I haven't had problems with reading). So, when we would be in class, and I wouldn't understand, I just assumed I was too stupid. I think my assuming that I just had to memorize things is where I would fail. Learning that math includes practice and that it doesn't just come naturally, is what is really going to help me. I see now that reading over notes, just doing the homework and class work, and not doing any other practice problems if I still couldn't understand isn't the way to go. Will definitely be doing a lot of practice questions, printing out lots of sheets, and doing problems over and over again until I get it right. I now understand why I have never been "good at math". I'm really determined and want to become smarter and more skilled in maths and science, especially since I will be going into STEM. I can't wait to grow to love math rather than despise it.
My major is English. I loved studying math when I was in high school but now I lost my skills in math, and I became so bad at calculations even for simple numbers.
I'm a home economics major and I'm not good on both subjects. But atleast in English, I can barely pass. But in math, I can only pass in arithmetic level.In advance math like argebra, calculus etc, I always failed. I can only pass those if our math teacher is not giving us very difficult problems. I thnk, I need to sit in on my nephew's math class or get a tutor. If I'm only good in math, maybe I get 3 points to reach the passing rate of 75% in our board exam. I only got 72%. It so painful because I almost got it.
The worst part is in Primary school I used to love maths so much But when I got to high I stopped caring. Same goes for my love of reading Now I’m trying to regain my love for both I could be because my attention span is messed up
We have the same story! I lost interest in almost everything because of a heartbreak last year. What kept me going is that I never gave up on researching philosophy and religion. From there I reflected on myself and how I can get better. I'm trying to get good at math for now, I recently started getting interested
I’ve learned that I’ve been ignorant to geometry my whole life , mainly because I haven’t practiced. Now I’m in this college geometry course with the hardest teacher ever but I have been actively trying to get better and it’s crazy what one month has done . I’m so proud of myself 😂
Reading the title of this video, i think he (you) will tell us what are the better approach at understanding math (and only math) problems. I like how his (your) main points focused on the general understanding of how you should improve your "life skills" (not just math skills) I don't wanna sound negative but you know, explaining some more important specific mathematical concerns will better justify your title...😉 Still, it's great enough motivation for me (and for everybody else, i think) because i think that's how we should educate ourselves if we want to be a better person, in general. 😅

Homework could allow a student to keep up in class given that the next topic often includes things covered in the past . However , the home-work problems are usually a small portion (most often) of all the problems the homework was drawn from, and students therefore should practice both homework or non -homework problems as any could of those problem could be on the test, but most important , more practice usually leads to better result or understanding of the topic/concept. Sometimes, problems are the only way to know if one understands the concept, so just practice and practice and when unable to solve a problem, you might have to reread the materials or even get a new book or study guide to read and to find additional problems to practice on.

This is also the reason why I can't pass my board exam. I should improve my math. I also realized that arts, music, fish keeping, cooking, gardening etc. needs math. Math is part of our lives. We should not take it for granted.

Studying multiplication tables, reworking through previous math, learning math that's not being taught also helps. All you need to know is mulitiplcation tables, orders of operations, distance formula, and inequalitys and you will be half way there.
I suck at math rn and I wanna become an astrophysics....but the thing is that I WANT TO understand but I can’t :( I will work harder and work A LOT on my math skills from now on
I've known or seen people that are geniuses with mental arithmetic. They can do complex calendar calculations in their head rapidly without writing anything down. They can do multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction rapidly in their head. However, a lot of these people cannot do common college courses such as linear algebra, calculus 1-3, statistics, differential equations, and graph theory. I could do those but was at best average at mental arithmetic. What's the difference?
Sounds like better advice for writing than math. Until you get past high school math, the best answer might be to look at a bunch of RU-vid videos and look at all the different ways to solve that problem. Math doesn't have a different answer for every person. In contrast, in writing, you really have to look into yourself and buckle down.

My last highschool math teacher would stand in front of the class for 5 minutes explain one or two problems then give us a worksheet for the rest of the hour while he would play on his phone or computer and then give us a homework assignment then I would get home not know how to do the math homework and try my best come back to school get docked points for not fully completing the assignment and then repeat for the rest of the year and I would ask questions but he barely tried and about 80 percent of his class had a C or lower so the next year I decided not to do math again because I didn't really understand what I learned the previous year
