Hi Lynden, I really appreciate how clearly you explain the ins and outs of improving on the saxophone. I'm steadily progressing through the beginner stages. Thank you. I have one suggestion that might enhance your videos. I compliment the colourful background. It adds a welcoming, open, and professional touch. However, the bright vertical light in the corner behind you can be a bit distracting. Softening or better, removing it, could create an even better look.

Hi Klass, that’s great feedback thank you so much. It’s tricky knowing how to use lighting and in my later videos I have used a different set up and I’d love to know if you think it’s better please? Thanks again that’s such great constructive feedback 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷

Terrific lesson, Lynden, Thank you. I would like to make a suggestion. I use iReal Pro too, and because I hate all the sounds it uses for the Countoff, I turned countoff off, and for every tune I work with I added 2 bars in front, making them II-V7 of the opening chord of the tune. I just have to add the little "intro" sign to the first bar, and it works. (Your iOS does that differently from my Android, so I can't tell you how to do that. Easy to look up, though.) It's a great relief to hear a real intro instead of those ear-searing noises. Again, thanks for the lessons!

Yes Lynden . keepet it simpel and the importen thing is that you point out , is to start with the court tones ONLY for quite a while after learning the melody .Then filling on later is depending on how many Corus you have in line. By the way .The tenor I bought is sounding better and better the more I play on it. Bedst from Copenhagen Denmark

Excellent video, Lynden. Thank you. I noticed that for m7 chords, you use a dorian, harmonic minor and aeolian scales. How do you decide which scale to use?
@lyndenblades
@lyndenblades Месяц назад
Hiya and thank you 🤩 It just depends on the situation. So if you’re in a 251 situation then the Dorian fits nicely rather than the Aeolian. Generally speaking the Harmonic minor is a nice option over any minor key situation, it all depends on the context. Does that make sense? 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Forgive me if this is a stupid question as I don't really understand chords. Question is ,what key were you doing this in as I have a backing track in D major and I'm assuming the chords you have used might be different in other keys, again unsure as I don't have a musical background.
@lyndenblades
@lyndenblades 5 месяцев назад
Hi Godfrey and thanks for your question! It’s in concert Eb which is F for tenor sax 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Thanks for your quick reply that's answered my question. Now I'm a little puzzled though, all the fabulous sounding notes you put to the chords really sounds great but I'm assuming you would only select some of the improv patterns to play within the melody, is this correct. Is it possible for you to make a RU-vid video to show us how you might add some of these patterns to the melody, embellishing it but still making the melody heard to the audience . Thanks once again, I absolutely love your teaching techniques, so different and more understanding.
