I know everyone’s situation is different but I’ve known a handful of people who couldn’t breastfeed and when the lactation specialist came to see me at the hospital after birth, she told me “everyone produces milk, even if you don’t see anything right away, continue to breastfeed. Colostrum is the only thing baby needs for the first few days until your milk comes in.” That resonated with me. I feel like their is a misconception that if you don’t see anything coming out, your baby isn’t getting fed and trust me I felt that paranoia! But it felt so reassuring to hear that your milk doesn’t always come in right away and I feel like without hearing that I would’ve just given up. Don’t get me wrong we supplemented with formula as well though. You’re an amazing mama! Breastfeeding is such a beautiful journey because of its hardships but so worth it.
I had the same thing happening and I cried and was so tired and my baby was hungry. Thank you for sharing this! You are amazing! You’re doing a great job 🤍
Thank you for posting this! I was an overproduced at the beginning of my journey. I had a huge freezer stash. Then I hit six months pp and got on regular birth control and it killed my supply! My daughter is 11 months old and I still nurse her every morning and some times in the night if she wakes. I’ also pump throughout the day and give her that mixed with formula because of the antibodies even if it’s only .5 ounce a day. It’s hard to accept that tu have to give formula when all you want is to breastfeed! You’re doing a great job. Im proud I did 6 months solely on my breastmilk and that Im still going
Omg breastfeeding was so hard for me too! I think it was worse than not sleeping. Anyway, went 9 months strong 💪🏽 my daughter is 16 months now and she has NEVER gotten sick. So worth it🙏🏽
I have been following you for months, and love your videos but this one really hit home. I have been struggling with feeling like I am not providing enough milk for my baby. It's especially hard when everyone else seems to have it all together and make it seems like it's so easy. I have been struggling with this for the last two months with my newborn. I really needed this. It really helped to know that this is a struggle that more moms have. Not just me!!!
I tried EVERYTHING to increase my milk supply. It turns out my issue is hormone related due to my thyroid. So I will forever have to supplement. I’ve learned that it’s okay. At first I was heartbroken because I wanted to breastfeed exclusively, but my baby was losing weight and I didn’t know why...but it was my milk supply! Now he’s chunky and healthy. I still breastfeed and after I give him about 1oz of formula.
Yes! Best way to increase supply is based on supply and demand. The more you stimulate your breast the more you produce. It is a very stressful time and breastfeeding is very hard! Great job!
Just pointing out you forgot to update your description box to say this video is sponsored by Noom :) I am a week away from my due date and bought a handsfree pump so I can pump after feeds while taking care of my 3 kids. I hope it helps with my supply.
I love this. You are doing a great job! I am one of those that would pump 20oz at a time and let me tell you yes it's great but it was a pain because i would be engorged all the time. So don't get discouraged. Normal pump output is .5 to 1oz. Just keep doing what you're doing. As long as Benji is having enough poopy and pee diapers he is good.
Thank you for this. I am currently only pumping .5 to 1oz and my baby is almost 3 months. I didn’t know normal output was that, so it’s nice to hear that.
@@maladyd1 yes ma'am alot of people think that if you don't pump 5oz or more at a time that it's not working. But anything above 3-4oz is considered an oversupply. Just stay hydrated, make sure you're eating good. And pump and breast feed.
I'm just like you! I'm currently struggling with my supply. I've had to do 60% formula and the rest milk. I was so heart broken when I had to start the formula! Your struggles sound exactly like mine with being fussy and not sleeping!
Breast-feeding is very hard indeed but for me the hardest thing about it is weaning your baby off breast milk. I am currently going through that and it’s 10 times harder than struggling with all the breast-feeding issues.
No stress . When I get stressed out I noticed a decreased on my milk it's even more hard today with this whole pandemic its like more pressure. I have 3 kids with the last 2kids breast feeding was good but with 2 kids and 1breastfeeding and virtual school it's so stressed full .
Thank you for sharing about pumping someone told me not to pump it’s stops supply so I sadly listened but next baby I have I’m going to be ready with a pump I might even try it still I still lactate and only breastfeed at night
Not all pediatricians are lactation experts and makes me angry when they tell moms to supplement with formula at the beginning. I applaud and give lots of credit to those pediatricians who instead support breastfeeding, provided information and advice, and provide information for further support (classes, contact info to lactation consultants, etc)
