Oh my goodness. I took your advice and bought the right size for my 2700 psi, 2.5 rpm Honda pressure washer. I had just washed my patio about 2 moths ago so it wasn't really dirty at all - or so I thought. I wanted to try this new nozzle so I hooked it up and it took me about 1/3 the time to clean that patio as it did with the 25° tip PLUS it took off dirt I didn't eve realize was there. What a godsend to anyone who uses pressure washers. I got going and cleaned the mold and mildew off the wood privacy fence on one side of the yard as well. Works like magic!

This is quite possibly the best produced youtube video I have ever watched. 1. It has a short no nonsense intro. 2. No competitive music. 3. Speaker is clear and articulate. 4. Content is concise and to the point. 5. Information is illustrated with imagery. 6. Information is useful and original. 7. Important notes are captioned across the screen. Bravo Excellent well done. I recommend you make a second version of this video and just put a new intro/label on it that says: How to make an effective youtube video.

I like the turbo nozzles but here's a word of caution: Don't use them on delicate surfaces like car bodies or other painted surfaces or even softwood. It busts that stuff up pretty quickly. I usually use the turbine nozzle on harder surfaces and the underside of my mower decks, 15 deg. on the underside of my mowers and some types of wood and the other nozzles I may use to wash cars or painted equipment.

I agree, you're crazy if you don't have a turbo nozzle, and your double crazy if you don't have a surface cleaner. Keeps debris out of your face and makes cleaning large areas way easier.

I have one of those and it works pretty well. I love that buzzing sound they make. It reminds me of the rocket sounds on old 1950's scifi movies. BUT! Something I discovered last year that seems to clean the concrete decks just as well and covers more space is one of those rotary deck cleaners. The one I bought at Home Depot has small bristles around the edge and when your running it with the pressure washer, it hovers over the concrete as it cleans. I mainly use it on the pool deck.

the reason your nozzle and drone fans appear to spin slow has to do with the frame rate of the camera; at normal speed your camera takes 24 still pictures per second and when you play them back at 24 frames per second our eyes view it as continuous (even though its just several still photos), however when you record something that's rotating, it will appear to look slower or even stationary when the rotational speed aligns with the 24 pictures; so when the rotation is 24 revolutions per second it will look stationary, similarly when the rotation a multiple of 24 (48, 72, 96, and so on) it will also appear to look stationary because every time the photo is taken the rotary piece is back in the same place as it was for the previous photo. Hope that makes sense! Keep up the great work Steve!

I've been using a rotary nozzle since I built my hog nursery in '95. They effectively double the cleaning capability of the washer and will easily drill a hole in a 2x4. I run 4gpm at 2000psi so you don't want to get an arm or leg in front of it.

Purchased one of these after my dewalt surface cleaner would no longer spin because the bushing exploded, hoping that the simpler design of a turbo nozzle will do the job. I also ordered a Karcher surface cleaner to replace it since it has ball bearings instead, I hope between the two of these I can keep my patio, driveway, and brick sidewalk clean. The right tools for the job definitely saves time and water.

If you’re a tool man this is the best channel on RU-vid. You’re a great teacher Steve! I bought my turbo nozzle from Home Depot. It had the Dewalt name on it. Who knows who actually made it. It’s a 3500 psi which matched my machine. It is amazing and fast but will do incredible damage if you’re not careful. It will cut holes in wood, dig dirt by the bucket full and dent your gutters (found this out myself 😕). Please wear shoes and eye protection. It will ruin your day if it hits your skin (my neighbor found this out, I warned him, it took stitches). Great tool though. Cuts my time in half. Be careful!

I use a rotary head on a Karcher pressure washer and it works great an driveways but be carful using on wood surfaces as it can gouge the wood surface right away . On a wood deck turn the pressure down and start well away from the surface to see how it's going to work .

Great video, Steve!!! The reason the video shows that slow spinning motion is because of the video camera Frame Rate, in Frames Per Second, or fps. There are many frame rates among video cameras, so the speed seen of anything rotating in a video is a combination of the speed of rotation of the item and the fps of the video camera. A video is taken in still image frames of rates like 30 fps and 60 fps, with speeds below 30 fps, between, and maybe above 60 fps. When the two rates are the same, for example, a car tire rim's rotation speed and the camera's fps, the rotating wheel spokes will appear to stand still. As the speed of the wheel changes, the seen speed in the video will, too. Since very fast rotations of things like power tools and the rotary nozzle are well beyond 60 fps, the still images taken at 60 fps will be different and the apparent speed seen in the video is untrue. Then there's harmonics of speeds that may also make something rotating as fast as the rotary nozzle stream appear to stand still. As the speed is either slightly faster or slower than the harmonic, the video will appear to turn slowly, let's say clockwise for faster and counterclockwise for slower. The same is true of something rotating slightly faster or slower than the camera's fps rate. That spinning rotary cone could appear to barely spin.

On my power washer ,when its running if l let go of trigger it will shut down automatically. And create a pressure lock until l let water through the nozzle and have to start it with the trigger wide open.l asked a small engine guy why it does not use bypass valve any more and he said it was probably from having a water softener and salt build up in unit.said not worth replacing unit .l put clr in the line before water to try and clean out insides when l start it up each year but still have to have water through the nozzle when srarting it up and dont let off till l am done by shutting off engine.its works great other than not using bypass valve.

The camera effect that makes you see the propeller and the turbo nozzle look as though they are in slow motion is called the stroboscopic effect and has to do with the frames per minute of the camera video vs the speed ot the propeller or water stream or whatever. When they match up just right ist like when a strobe light, as in a timing light, stops the motion in the video for an instant allowing you to see the object in motion as if it was stopped.

Please emphasize that those turbo nozzles are really a zero tip. It will cut flesh like a scalpel. Not to be fussed with! Also, it will carve the snot out of wood if held too close to the surface. Also, wear some eye protection when using a turbo tip. That critter throws debris in all directions! And grit in the eye slows down beer consumption! Be safe !

lovely, strip the sand from the block paving and spend more than 15 minutes resanding it afterwards - having of course had to go out and buy kiln dried sand to do the job with as ordinary sand won't in the joints. The rotary nozzle is best restricted to cleaning of slabs, not weeding joints.

I find that if one is not careful with power washers on wood and get too close you are not only removing dirt you are also taking a layer of wood. Then you end up having to sand everything you power washed in order to apply a sealer or stain. Double the work. I use a stiff bristle push broom with hot soapy water and rinse with garden hose.

Well I have to say that I too bought one years ago from Northern Tool. I don't remember any choices then as just one was offered and it wasn't specific as to psi. Never worked very well leaving the swirl marks and taking forever to clean the same area that I would do with an adjustable nozzle in no time. Kind of like trying to cover square feet with a pencil. It has stayed on the wall for years and years because it gave such an uneven performance. My machines have been 2800 to 3200psi units and I have tried it on the two or three I have used. So I am not really convinced at this point. Good topic though. Take care. Doug

You can use the 15degree nozzle and it’s just as affective as the turbo nozzle if not more affective. I still don’t think that the turbo nozzle is better than a 15 degree nozzle. The turbo nozzle is nice and it covers more ground because it sprays in a circle but as far as removing dirt I can’t say that it’s better than the 15degree nozzle. I got mine from amazon and it was cheap enough for me to keep it rather than sending it back.

Do they work? Hell yeah they work! They're basically a zero nozzle that rotates in an oscillating manner, which if pretty wild and a lot faster than a regular zero nozzle. They're great for some things, for other things there are better options.

Your Demo at 9.10 showing the use of a rotary pressure washer tip was good but I found a better method was to use a L.P.G. bottle and a wide flame torch .. The rotary tip blows out dirt leaving a gap which still gets filled and weed in festered . The flame touch leaves the dirt /gap filled . Just don't do it on a fire ban day like we have for 6 months plus here in Australia

Had one, it never worked properly. The water cut a groove in the rattle ball and all I had was a lopsided spray.

Great video! I was wanting to know if you have done a video or would do a video on winterizing a pressure washer? I just bought one and have heard horror stories come the next years start up. Especially frozen and cracked parts. Thanks Scott

Jax Turner Why are you being a douche Jaxoff? I don’t have an owners manual. Plus it was a question for Steve, not you. It was also a good idea for a video. Another thing Jaxoff if a manual is the answer for everything then there would be no use for Steve’s channel. You’re an F’n genius.

Great Vid! and very good tip, about starting it in the "Pointing down" position. One thing though, I was waiting for the explanation, of "How, and why, it works" you never did explain.The question of why , when looking at the Vid, it seems "Slower" than what it actually is, is to do with the "Frame rate", of the recording. Thanks for this.

I have a Homelite (Honda) 2700 psi pressure washer. When I search for rotary nozzles I see nozzles for 2500 psi and 3000 psi, but none for 2700. Will one of those work correctly on my washer?
@macscorner3139
@macscorner3139 2 года назад
The reason why you see that spin is because of frame rate, if you turn your Frame rate to 24 it will look natural

Lyle Long, I use W-D40 and spray it in the nozzle and let it soak for a couple minutes. Shake it and it should come break loose inside. It might take a couple tries but it will work.

Be sure to replace the sand back on the sidewalk. After using the nozzle, it will take the sand that belongs there out.

Unfortunately, most web sites like Home Depot make only broad or misleading statements on them about the Turbo unit being rated up to a certain pressure level. We got one for my 2800 WEN pressure washer and had no real instructions as to use or the info you produced in this video. We were not impressed with it, but will have to check it out once again after reviewing the video. (It was listed as a Karcher Turbo unit and was rated "up to 4,000 psi). Well, does their statement of "rated up to" actually mean that it would work on my WEN 2800 pressure washer or not? Not sure, myself, so what do you think? We are still on a learning curve with this attachment and I really do hope it is workable with my pressure washer, but I am basically ignorant to know such at this point. Can you enlighten me? Do I need to stop using this one and look for something else at this point? We have a unique job in progress out in my flower bed around the home. It had been filled with shrubs for probably the past 35 years or so and the previous owner never kept them trimmed or cared for. We have remove them by various means and a whole lot of hard work in doing many of them, since the root balls are huge on them and a ton of digging and cutting the roots has transpired in their removal. I probably have 50 stumps of various sizes around my home at this point. We set up a chain hoist on two telescoping or tripod jack stands and with a 3" steel tube across them. We lifted them out initially with them being dry. However, the thought that maybe a pressure washer would eat away the surrounding dirt and make removal easier really took hold and we tried it out yesterday. Unfortunately, the turbo nozzle didn't work as well as we had thought, so we just used the black nozzle. Bingo! The stream cut the roots as well as loosened up the main root ball and, other than being muddy, it worked just fine for easy removal of the cut down shrub stumps. When the root balls removed were shot with this pressure washer, they went from weighing about 15-20 lbs. each, to maybe just 5 lbs. at most. Easy disposal then. Any rate, I am still hoping the turbo nozzle unit I have will work out in some manner instead of me having to find another one to replace it. Thanks so much for this video, as it really helps.
