Ill be honest I really wasn't expecting too much from the changes, but with just the essential mods (and especially faster hdt-smp) I now get an increase of ~25 frames, almost a consistant 60 fps in all areas of skyrim, I am grateful for your video.
@@inferno7837 I searched in google how to turn off fog in caves in skyrim and downloaded the mod but I dont remember the name. It had pictures with and without fog and for me It helped a lot with the framerate .
@@inferno7837 I also opened skyrim config file and maybe down at the end there was two options for particles which I made them to 0 and it helped with the big fire smokes.
Just in time! I am finally satisfied with the way my Skyrim looks at 85 mods, but unfortunately I'm getting bad performance at cities. Thanks for the video! Been enjoying your mod showcases a lot.
@@isaacphillips4247 what you got in your rig? Got an trioZ 3080 and an ryzen 7 5600x and im at 557 active mods. Im running some 8K Mods and the rest is 4k textures even im playing on 1440p. I overhauled everything, from animations to birds in the sky. Over 300gB of Mods. I have 49-60fps stable. No crashes so far except when entering windhelm, thats because of JK‘s skyrim, so disable it before entering. 🥸
@@DripzEU823 I got a laptop holding i712700H and an RTX 3060. I would like to play around 60 frames on my 2K screen if possible. Also I'm very new to all this modding, if you could give me some recommendations based on which mods you believe will work best with each other that would be very insightful.
Remove Useless Plants is another amazing mod. Like it says removes a bunch of plants that are not really noticeable and you can pick and choose by deletin the required Nif files which plants stay and which don't i haven't used all of them and gained a really noticeable boost in performance, since for example shrubs which are ugly are EVERYWHERE and hog a bunch of performance
I would actually like to suggest you don’t just show B roll footage unrelated to what your talking about. For example when talking about the upscaling, actually show it off and show before and after. Otherwise your channel could just be audio and the video is pointless
If after all this you are still experiencing stuttering and big frame drops when looking at certain directions, I would really recommend Cathedral Assets Optimizer. First backup your mods, then Open Cathedral Assets Optimizer and: 1) unselect Extract BSA 2) click Open Directory and select the root directory where your mods are installed so every mod will be affected. 3) on the texture tab select Compress Textures and Generate Mip Maps and click Run. 4) profit If still stuttery follow same procedure but in step 3 before clicking run, activate downsizing -> by ratio and leave 2 on height and width. This process can take a long time but will massively improve your performance and reduce frame fluctuation by a lot, especially if using a lot of 4k and 8k textures + enb + dyndolod. You will lose some quality of course but it will be barely noticeable, and the frames you will get back will be 100% worth. You can even backup your entire mod collection and try, if you don't like the results just roll back the changes by overwriting mods with backup. Sorry for the wall of text.
@@proxmitikgames I have been using it this way for quite some time and never had an issue, but if you want you can follow the exact same steps without opening it through your mod manager and get the same results.
The FPS increases are 0, but now all the textures of weapons and armor have turned into potatoes , I did not make a backup copy since there were 80gb mods I do not advise anyone to do this, only if you choose a certain mod for texture compression, BUT IN NO CASE DO NOT CHOOSE ALL MODS
@@ruslantamashin6359 Optimizing and compressing your textures should definitely not had such an impact on your textures. If they turned into potatoes after you downsized if because you are using 2k textures or less to start with, so this is not for you. This is for people with 4k+ textures that also use enb and dyndolod, it will not be a magical solution for very low end PCs. Sorry that you did not backup, you should always do so when modifying your mods.
I’m 3/4 of the way through the video and I went from “I’m going to already have all of these” to “I have most of these but there are settings and mods I didn’t know about.” I bookmarked this to go over later . My current load order is frozen, where I’m only allowed to fix issues and not make any other changes. But after I’m sure the current one is good, I’m going to copy it to a new profile and make improvements for my next game. Thanks for making this video!
looking at Riverwood from the bridge with 2 extra followers wearin SMP including meyself went from 45 to 58 because i didnt have 2 mods in this vid. Ur a champion mate, cheers 🤙
For AMD gpu users I highly recommend DXVK. It's a translation layer that converts directx to vulkan. I run Skyrim on RX 6600XT and I wasn't able to max out the gpu usage with only 30-40fps. Now I run smooth 60fps at almost all times. Nvidia and Intel users should probably notice a performance boost too, but I am not sure. Edit: see my comment below for instructions ;)
That helped me a lot! Thank you so much! I already had some Mods you mentioned and which should increase the performance (fe. eFPS and USSEP) and yes, it was better, but sometimes it was stuttering for a few seconds. Now I added some other mods you mentioned, f.e. recursion monitor, skyrim prio, skyrim landscape/water fixes, lightened skyrim and cleaned skyrim textures and OMG, no stuttering anymore. O.O Awesome! I just can recommend these mods to everyone.
Shadow boost would do more for you if you didnt use beth ini since beth ini already lowers shadow render distance and quality to a more logical amount more then likely shadow boost isnt doing much at that point.
Bro just wanted to say your content is amazing. Noticed you've been having some bumps in subs recently (I'm certainly one) and definitely deserved. Looking forward to more of your videos and this channel blowing up!
this is helpful for me because technologically, I'm kind of an idiot. I'd just kind of accepted that my game would have lower FPS because I didn't know where to start for optimising performance while still letting it look good :)
*Hey Gents, I came here as a updater for the Skyrim Upscaler mod* For people that have been paying attention to the Mods updates a features, at first glance it looks awesome to have. You're getting 30 - 40 FPS Boost without sacrificing Graphics Quality, but trust me looks can be deceiving. As of right now and likely for a couple more weeks/months to come Upscaler does not work properly. The following results are possible if installed (regardless of correctly or incorrectly) Immediate CTD upon launch of the game Graphics Drivers Crash and CTD (Rare occurrence since your GPU stops it) Launch of the game, yet blackscreen or complete missing textures for the world. As what was stated above, It is not a good time to install this mod. So please. Spare yourself the confusion like many others before you and don't install it until further notice. *DON'T INSTALL IT RIGHT NOW*
really really good video that shows a bunch of options from essential to optional mod fixes for those desperate in need. Best part; it just (actually) works.
Soft! Every time I look at my Skyrim and say to myself “this seems like a good thing to work on today,” you release a video on that exact topic. It’s always exactly what I needed and always so easy to follow. You’re a saint. I owe you a beer
The unofficial patch is sorta a love hate thing for me: the author Arthmoor is an asshole for one, for two many of the changes that mod implements are not exactly “fixes” but things that Arthmoor wanted to be different, they don’t all objectively fix issues within the game. But it hasn’t done anything outrageously bad to my game, at least nothing I’ve noticed. The only reason I’ve installed it is because so many other mod authors have it as a requirement to install their mods. If I weren’t for that, I wouldn’t use it as I don’t use any of his other mods
Thumbs up! This is actual great video for a change. Even though it has been over a year, and the title is a bit obscure. I wonder if there's an actual good video for vanilla users that explains absolutely essential (legitimately) )mods that are mandatory for vanilla users. As in meant only for fixing problems with the game and optimizing it. Without any unnecessary actual non-essentials like qol and other bloat. Most users and beginners only care about functionality, and perhaps graphics improvement in order to play the actual game as it was designed with exception of design flaws (such as glitches that devs have overlooked/ignored). I have not even played the game yet which has recently been installed and dormant, but getting closer to compiling a legitimate list for vanilla with only mandatory improvements on functionality and basic graphics.
Appreciate huge work. I am sitting on mediocre setup like 5600xt and I realised that i spend loads of time on comparing every mod with fps difference. Like you know, every grass/textures/lighting mod compare. Have you ever considered creating a short list of "fps friendly" mods for graphics? Though game is old but mods can really burn stuff with budget pcs :D Cheers!
It is worth noting that upscaler offers DLAA which will not let you play at lower resolution, but will dramatically improve graphical fidelity, works with ENB, and lets you turn off al vanilla AA. I do still see a small FPS boost when turning it on.
NVIDIA reflex mod? I need to install this ...great vid man, will help a lot of Skyrim player modding there game... You might maybe concierge regrouping all those mods and make one overhaul mod. Modding community is amazing but imagine those guys working together....would make life easier for everyone
The issue with USSEP is that they explicitly do not want to support older Skyrim versions, that for me have been the only way to get certain mods working.
I will be honest with you. A mod list is often not based on the fact that you want to get too much out of it, but on how strong the specification of your machine is. What's under the hood more precisely. The size of the monitor doesn't really matter either, because if you still have an old 4:3 monitor, it won't be capable of 1440. Also, not to get the most out of the given mods. The SSE is only and exclusively optimized for 16:9-16:10, and as far as I know, there is no mod that can fix this 100%. This becomes a big problem when, say, you download monitor-specific mods. There are only wide screen mods for the game, so you will only suffer through the various repair packages, up to the mods that replace the loading screens. The total performance does not matter how much there is, the amount of ram, the amount of processor cores and clock speed. The amount of vram of the video card and its clock speed. I could list more. However, it is a fact that the mods you listed improve the game a lot. In my case, quite a lot. The base game is so broken (I mean SE and AE) that it refuses to produce 20fps in open spaces, the situation is obviously different indoors, but it's still confusing. I use most of the mods compressed into a separate package, and whenever I feel like installing the game, I also take these mods from my bookshelf. And overall, the performance improvement is huge. You can have an old computer, even 20 years old, it will be able to run the game with good performance and you don't have to make any compromises. That's all I know about this video topic.
Bro this video is insane I was getting like 27 fps in a forrest with alotta trees while using some 4k retextures and after installing these mods it went up to 35 with no visual difference
After installing about half of these, one did not work, and the other 10 or so made no noticeable difference. But, I'm running on Linux, using SteamTinkerLaunch to run Vortex, and Vortex to launch Skyrim.
Any idea why modlist creators would want us to skip the BethINI step? They seem to think it's old and forces you to 60 fps, which the engine fixes should already have unlocked.
I was missing a few of these. I installed eFPS, Nvidia Reflex, Rec Monitor, and object remover. I already had most of the others which I feel are mandatory. It gave me 10 extra fps and seems very smooth and crisp. Using Rudy ENB on Ultra settings, with everything in 4k res. I have over 300 mods installed and it runs around 80 - 120fps. Very nice. After installing these I did have one new bug I have never seen before. I loaded into the Ragged Flagon and it had no walls. All you could see was night sky and stars. I restarted the game and loaded the same save and the problem was gone. I'm just wondering if it was Nvidia reflex support. Or something else that I'm missing entirely. Not a big deal since the restarting the game fixed it, because just reloading didn't. Could be just skyrim though, no idea. Long as it's not constant, I dont really mind. Edit: It was an ELFX Shadows bug that got a patch. The problem is no more.
@@masqueradet Yes, I would say that is the average. If it drops it recovers after I take a few steps in game. But this is outside the cities. I get higher frames in the cities and I have Jk's Skyrim all in one installed. I was getting 160fps in Whiterun just today. Cities and interiors run like a dream. I drop to around 55fps on rare occasions in areas with heavy trees and grass. Because I have complex grass for ENB. It has it's own shadows and it moves realistically. Riften forest area hovers around 60-120 fps. I have a G-Sync monitor the Acer Predator 170hz, 1440p so I don't notice frame drops at all. There might be a slight visual difference because you notice 60fps more than you do if it's over 80 frames. But nothing jarring that takes you out of the beauty or immersion. I have over 4000 animations and poses installed with CBPC next gen bodies and physics too and my processor doesn't even feel it. I have so many NPC mods that add NPCs with AI. So much going on in the cities.. I even have enemy faction raids on the cities and towns. Bandits, vampires, etc.. This PC is fantastic. This is the one I bought. www.x-kom.pl/p/735984-desktop-g4m3r-hero-i7-11700f-32gb-2tb-rtx3060ti.html I didnt feel like building one myself this time around.
@@IKnowHowItEnds Sounds good man, then I must clearly be doing something wrong. Because I don't get nearly as much fps while running an RTX 3080. Whiterun is kind enough to give me a measly 45 fps at the gate when entering. Curious as to how the game handles your modlist vs mine.
I have stable (locked) 60 fps outdoors (RTX 3060 + i5 10400 16gb RAM 3600 mHz SSD 960 gb) with a lot of trees + grass + Silent Horizons ENB + some visual effects + weather mod + some additional NPC +cosmetic mods (for NPC too). But I still have some fps drops from 65 to 50 or even 40 while I'm looking at some directions. It happens in certain areas like when I'm standing in the fields near Whiterun and looking at the Khajiit camp or stables 🤔 In Fallout 4 I have installed heavier mods, and I have more fps there without any drops. So I think may be it's an engine problems, which can't be solved with mods? I don't think it's my pc problem 🤔
Is it normal that your riverwood looks like a forest because of northern roads ? I can see some origin of the forest plants, i have those mods too and i was wondering if its a bug.
How do you make your game look so clean and natural? I'm constantly messing around changing between enb's and settings but never manage to make it look that good, there's always something off either with the colours and lighting
Just a suggestion, make a video about good modding practice. A lot of people didn't know how to do it. They had no idea why they couldn't run the game, then complained to the mod author. Great video.
@@SoftGamingOfficial sometimes. Sometimes people just don't know what they're doing a go to argue with authors or report bugs without ever checking for conflicts and such
Hi man, love your stuff. I am new to modding Skyrim and I have a question. Are most new mods compatible with the downgraded Special Edition? Especially the combat mods. I am trying to choose a version but I don't know which one to pick? Special? Steam Anniversary? GOG?
Hi the steam version is best and yes the downgraded version of AE to SE with the best of both worlds patch is the best for combat mods and mods in general imo
Which Version of "ENB Complex Grass - Patch Compendium for various grass mods" are u using? The Folkvangr for ENB Complex Grass version or? And nice Modlist :D
My real problem is with water and weather events. I'm using Water for ENB and Obsidian Weathers with RudyENB. Since my machine is dated already, I wanted a good looking yet good performance enb. When I get to waterfalls between riverwood and whiterun my fps drops from 60 to +-30. It also happens in rain or snow storms (rain is worse than snow). Thanks for the video, I'm gonna test those. The essentials I alrady had, but let's see if the extras are going to help. Specially the one that helps with the papryus scripts, I'm already over 280 and 250 plugins, sometimes the scripts can... welp.
Same. Though I trued eFPS and it wasn’t compatible with my city mods. But I have so many mods that anything designed for Vanilla Skyrim is likely not to work.
Here is how: upgrade cpu. I run a 3070ti and 2700x and 2700x is a bottleneck. Actually impacts Minecraft, Cities Skylines and Skyrim. You can tell the cause using task manager. Set it to stay in front and go to performance tab. If CPU goes 100% when you lag you need a better cpu. If its gpu you need a better gpu. The document I use for single core cpu's is one created by member of RPCS3 discord which places i7-12700K as peak performance for dollar at high tier. (they have yet to test/place new amd cpu) Good video you got good mod coverage.
The thing is, you max out your cpu because you are loading several thousand objects at a time, and if for every of the thousand objects you load a 2k, 4k or 8k texture you will run into bottlenecks. Optimizing your ini's and textures with CAO will bring you a LOT of performance improvement without having to buy a new PC or components lol
@@dpriliac That simply isnt how it works. Loading of high quality assets isnt issue even sitting idle with no mods I struggle to get over 60 fps and with mods I can see no performance drop even with enb depending on location. Its a act of futility to attempt to optimize a game out to run better most of the time. The only way to make it run better would be dramatically lower gpu load since cpu is bottleneck. I already have gone down game of using all these mods they can increase performance in case situations like riften exterior but cpu is limitation. Better hardware would remove the lag everrywhere rather than in rare case circumstances. Its simply fact that skyrim se and fallout 4 etc are cpu dependent games. My point isnt that you dont need these mods its that if you have stuttering and have basic fix mods you need better hardware more ram etc.
@@brucemooney1277 mmh… I don’t think that mod will help you that much for your problem…unless it got updated since i last check it. If you use an ENB your best bet is to tweak the water section, especially increasing the caustics. (You can see it in this video also, near the shores: the more the water is shallow the more caustic is visible giving this whitish tint and hiding the transition line).
@SoftGamingOfficial ah drat, I am new to modding and don't have ENB. I'm contemplating if my laptop can handle it.. it only has a gtx 1650.. what do you think?Anyway, thank you for the guide!
