Brilliant, simple, clear, and helpful video. Have you had to change the 8.5" tyres yet? It's an incredibly difficult affair. So I took this as an opportunity to modify the scooter to accept 10" tyres. Now performing an inner tube change is easy; and the scooters ride is faster and more comfortable.
What i have found is to inflate over the max recommended pressure and then actually quickly disconnect the xiaomi extender. Dont disconnect the pump and then the extender, but rather immediately after inflating liitle bit over the max try to quickly diaconnect the extender. It worked for me but I feel like now its over the max pressure which is not ideal but lets hope it wont cause puncture. Also you cant really gauge your pressure to ideal pressure so theres that...
The infuriating thing about the included adapter and so many extenders is the screw section never properly freely rotates. If it did you could lose minimal air. Instead it catches the pipe itself and twists around, tangling the pump's pipe up and adding huge resistance. The only way I managed without buying an extender with a valve pin is by pre-twisting my pump's rubber piping in the opposite direction so that it could unravel as I tried to unscrew. I still probably lost about 10psi but it was serviceable.
I just got a set of these extenders today, and worked great. For anyone in Australia, Super Cheap Auto has them: www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-valve-extensions---metal-19mm-4-piece/130230.html#q=tire%2Bvalve&lang=en_AU&start=12 (didn't need the Xiaomi extender, and don't think my scooter even came with one).
It really was a pain using the supplied extender, I tried the duct tape method & various pumps then saw the valve extenders online in my local auto store which I will grab tomorrow & then I ound your video too so looks like they sure will save some stress for what should be a simple task, but at least I got some Slime puncture protection in there while I was trying to inflate them first time round !
DON'T Waste your money on extra adapter, you 1st attached the extender to the pump 1st, not tyre. Then you attach the extender lead to tyre. After getting correct psi, discount extender from tyre 1st. That's the point of the included extender, otherwise they wouldn't ship it with scooter.
Does anybody have a link to one of these one Amazon and would this be compatible with foot / hand pump I got one of these scooters the other day and haven’t even been able to ride it confidently as the tire is no where near inflated
The back tyre is easier as it doesn't have the stupid inner wheel plate that stops you attaching the connector to the valve. You don't need the crappy extension bit for the back tyre, just inflate it the same way you would a bike tyre with hassle or need for adaptive add-ons 😉 Good luck with anyone that tries to renew an inner tube/tyre though, front or back, it's an absolute 🤬🤬🤬🤬
