To all the people saying Brave New World is more realistic: Both 1984 and Brave New World had 1 unrealistic element. For 1984 it was the idea that a population could be controlled through complete misery and gaslighting, as modern psychology proves that positive reinforcement is a more effective method and while I don't doubt that gaslighting is effective, literally changing enemies every few years or actively encouraging "doublethink" seems more like testing the limits than something necessary. For Brave New World it was the idea that those on top would genuinely care about the happiness of the lower classes. The reality would probably be a mix of both. The lower classes would likely live like the Proles of 1984, poor and destitute, kept in line through hate and false promises. The upper class would live like the Alpha plus of Brave New World, intelligent and completely aware of how their society works, but not caring because of their hedonistic lifestyle. The growing class divide makes this the most realistic future in my opinion.

The again, I wouldn't expect a computer from "1984" (if that even really is the year, although, viven the chronology, it likely is at least close to that) to be 100% infalible.

The problem in Oceania is that you don't have the right to fall in love and have a relationship with a woman so if I learned that I would kill myself or try to leave Oceania for Eurasia or Eastasia . In fact it would be better that the world of 1984 never becomes a reality because it is three countries that are at war for nothing. They have enough resources and do not want to defeat their enemies so as not to have trouble controlling their country and annexing a country that will be difficult to convince that their former leader was a threat to humanity. In addition there are other countries which are allied and which form the resistance against the other three countries. If this world becomes a reality it is better that the resistance or Eurasia or Eastasia wins the war. If I was the leader of Eurasia I would do my best to make peace with Eastasia and ally with Eastasia against Oceania. The problem is that all or almost all the countries with the Nuclear weapon could use it if their defeats are near. After defeating Oceania we would prove to the population that what Oceania was saying was only lies with evidence and by saying the truth. Oceania says freedom is slavery when it's the opposite. That war is peace when it is false but it is true that sometimes we have to go to war to have peace. That ignorance is strength is half true but it is better not to be ignorant in life. The policy of Oceania is to make people stupid by destroying everything that proves the opposite of what Oceania says so that the population does not understand that they are reduced to slaves to avoid a revolution against INGSOC which will be overthrown is prohibited if the population understands that they are slaves and that they are told only lies.
