I have a question. I love your work and you are very talented, but wouldn't these parts glued one day loose and fall? how can we prevent it from happening? especially in hot places where the changes of temperature tend to affect everything made in wood...

You are obviously are an extremely talented young man,(you look barely 20)LOL.After 45 years as a chef,I have semi retired and looking to explore wood crafts again.I stumbled upon this segment,of yours,looking for a how-to on copper inlay .I have done some wood inlay while messing around with little ,and trust me,very rudimentary projects,"back in the day".But this table is off the hook!!May I say your project has sparked a new interest in MY project now and I will add some wood to the copper,as well.I only have basic tools and certainly not a "workshop",but I AM determined!!LOL Who knows,maybe I can master my phone and be able to video my progress,HAHAHAHA!! Thanks for the video,sharing your talents and the inspiration!!!

It is most gratifying to see a young entrepreneur like yourself who is dedicated to his craft and motivated to produce quality products that people will gladly pay to have in their homes. You stand in stark contrast to most people your age who would rather choose socialism and getting "free stuff" from the government that they mistakenly think will make their lives better, if not more rewarding and easy. Bravo, my good man, BRAVO!

I do a fair bit of inlay work, mostly with boxwood, bubinga, ebony, and sometimes rippled sycamore.....I found my accuracy improved greatly by using a striking knife to mark the length of my inlay, instead of using a pencil. I use only hand tools for my work......I found if there is a mistake to be made, a hand tool only makes a little mark, while a router tends to ruin things very quickly...... so you feeling nervous with the router is understandable :) Nice work my friend! :)
@davidowens5898
@davidowens5898 2 года назад
You look really young considering the level of skill you've achieved: whoever taught you...knew his business. I confess I was shocked at the amount of glue you used on the inlay grooves. Also: that you didn't wipe the excess with a damp rag (The way I was taught). Tape? Not clamps on a length of scrap? It clearly didn't do the table any harm; the results were fabulous. Just a matter of style/technique it would seem. Nice work!
@SeanEvelegh
@SeanEvelegh 2 года назад
Hey David, Thanks a lot. yes you don't always need to clamp inlay in, because the strips are so thin and flexible, tape is plenty strong enough to force it into the gap. When you glue inlay edge banding in, you want to use a lot of glue as these pieces are delicate and can break off over time. lastly wiping excess glue with a damp clothes sometimes actually works the glue more into the wood grain, which means it's harder to remove in the end, also as wood glue drys it shrinks. so I want enough squeeze out remaining so its can be pulling back into the joint. Hope that helps if you are interested in my reasoning. Cheers, Sean

Impressive work for a young man! My Grandfather taught me (I am almost 71 y/o ) how to do my first inlays and they were all done with chisels - and not very elaborate (whatever design was also hand made by me!). I don't remember if I even knew what a router was - and I'm sure I couldn't afford one. HAHA Maybe it was the way I learned, but I always lay out the pattern to be symmetrical and have identical corners. But I will admit that planning the pattern takes as long or even longer than the work itself, and makes many more cuts necessary. Keep up the great work!

Beautiful table ! I have a Aunt and Uncle that have had a similar style table in their home for many years my Uncle is retired Military and had been a certified Scuba diver since the 1970s In the Display table he has placed many Artifacts And other items he recovered from historical wrecks On top of a very pretty and special White sand he got from a Florida Beach when they were Stationed close to it during his career I was also a Certified Scuba Diver since the 1970s and ive always loved that table as i have collected similar items from the Atlantic Ocean as well

At least you are doing actual inlay instead marquetry. Simple geometric design. Decently executed.

Very nice work. You're on your way to becoming a master craftsman (Perhaps you're there already).
