How to Install a Back up Camera in a Honda Accord 

Great Job. Lots of comments about actually showing running the audio wire. I ran mine today. Ran it from the disassembled area of the radio inside the car, under the column plastic sides (pushed on the plastic from one side and pulled from the other. Ran the cable under my driver seat, to the bottom of the door panel you showed. I did not take it off. Just pushed the cable underneath it and continued pushing it under the door panel until I got to the side. Ran it along side the back seat. Opened the back seat, exposing the trunk. Pushed the wire behind the felt cover, ran it through the trunk hood. My license plate is on the trunk. Above it are two license plate lights. Removed one of the lights and pushed the backup camera wires behind it, and put the license plate light back. Ran all the wires to the driver side tail lights to hook everything up there.

Just did one on my son's 06 Accord, yes run cable through the license plate light, you have to play with it, but it will snap in. Also I found running the cable though the lower dash easier than under the seat. Make sure that the radio setting is ready for the camera, and plug into the right port.

I know this was from a long time ago. But I just did it install it mine and I'm so glad that it doesn't take up that nook. It's just funny and how it has two head units. Nothing against you. Thanks

What if the rca cables doesn’t come with a red wire ?? Do I have to connect the purple reverse wire all the way back to the back reverse light that you connected in the back of the car ?

Are working The steering wheel control bottom to volume up/down ffw, etc?????

Can we use splice connectors for those reverse lights? Or do we have to cut them off like you and rewire it? I have bought a reverse camera the other day and it isn't working at all. It has a built in led for the license plate. That works, but the camera does not work at all. I got a feeling maybe I should try your method with cutting off the reverse light connection.

a quick question.. if your kenwood has android auto, do you know where the parking wire is. I am not able to locate it in my accord 2010. all that it has is one thick wire with insulated plastic sheeting that is tied tightly to a joint.

Question for you. The red wire attached to the RCA Jack going to the stereo for the back-up screen. Where exactly do you splice that red wire into? Does it splice into the cable with the RCA cable?

You should clean up that hole, the sharp edges could cut into the wire insulation. Better yet use a rubber grommet, to protect the wire. Also you might want to paint the bare metal, it could rust over time.

Confirming I was going to have to bust a whole somewhere to push the camera through... ;o) I'm working on my son's accord and I put the sub facing forward w/ the rear center console down and open to allow air flow. Have you ever tried that? I wonder if rear facing would be better like yours?

You said in the video you bought the bumper with some scratches on it. Can you see them after the paint job? I bought one and it has a couple scratches (not too noticeable though).

On the smaller wires,,, you may want to use the smaller red butt connectors so it will connect better. Good job hiding the wires.

This is honestly a sloppy job. It works but is it the right way? Not really. Never cut car harness, use posi taps. While testing exposed copper should be safed off with electrical tape. Drilled hole in trunk, no grommet to protect cable from sharp edges and also no waterproofing (silicone, sealing putty, waterproof grommet). For the place you mounted the camera the wrong camera type was used. You should note in your videos you are not a professional and claim no responsibility for damage to other peoples property from your instructional video. Also you DONOT connect the power supply for the camera with the reverse sensing wire on the rca. Power for camera should be connected to an acc 12v turnon and just the red wire on the rca should be connected to the reverse on the car.
