@@HomeRapidRepair as I noted there were no wiring information in your video which is why most are looking for. My question is how do I add an exhaust fan in existing old house. What I'm seeing is the hot wire is white and connected on the bottom terminal of the light switch and black on top, there is no ground that I can see. I've run a 14/2 line from exhaust to light switch. Using one switch to turn on the light and fan. I've connected many different ways and the fan either spins really slow for a few seconds & stops or not at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for responding to your video viewers. Blessings

Ok, from what I understand is happening here....You have a fan / light combo. They require 2 circuits to power them independently. That is if you want the light and fan on separate switches. If you only have wiring for one switch then the light and fan will have to be together. You only have one switch. So in your switch box you want the whites bonded together. The black wires (hots) should be the only ones on the switch. One is from the box and the other one should go up to the new fan. If the fan is not spilling correctly you could test it. Wire nut the black wires together "hot wire"...then when the power is back on the fan should spin normally, as there is no switch. If it's not the fan is either defective or there is a wiring problem somewhere in the wall before this area. Good luck.

@@HomeRapidRepair not a combo. Only the fan is new fan. Existing light and switch and adding an exhaust fan. Hot lead is white coming into the switch from where I really can't see. I don't see a ground attached to the box not to switch. I only have white (hot) to bottom and black to top.

@@timotaneous3300 yeah that’s very weird. Let me ask you this. Your new Romex wire to the fan.. did you connect the neutral wire to the neutral wires in the box? At the light switch box all the neutrals should be capped together and only the hot wire should be on the switch.
