This is a DIY how to video. In this video I show how to remove a toilet seat and install a Bemis Weston toilet seat that I got from Home Depot. Installing a toilet seat is simple. You can do it in literally 5 minutes!
We just bought a Bemis Weston 288588 model and one bolt is 1/2" longer than the other for some crazy reason. I wonder if that is intentional or just poor quality control ? I am hoping these metal hardware hinges will have a longer life than the plastic hinges that came with our toilet. Our Bemis seat cost us $41 at Home Depot today. WRZ 2022-01-17
Anyone watching this video I suggest you thread the first set of nuts on don't try to push them on. If you have a ratchet style box end wrench that makes it a lot easier and I put mine on using a drill set on torqu 1. I use my ratchet box end wrench for the final turn to snap off the nuts. I also found it easier to put the first set of nuts on the little threaded bolt then twist that into the seat.
You did a nice job with this video. This toilet seat is much better than the one our toilet came with. Very well designed and the hinges prevent any wiggling movement when we sit on it. We never had the slow closing seat before. Well worth the $41. I'm glad the old seat broke.
@@diyhda That's hard to answer without knowing your interests, expertise and/or the layout of your home. There is currently a large number of catalytic converters being stolen around the country from automobiles because of some precious metal used inside of them. We always park our car in front of our garage and I am thinking of replacing the existing motion activated (electric) light above our garage with a ring camera that has both a camera and a motion activated light built into one device. Just having the light go on, is kind of useless because these are professional thieves who use motor driven hacksaws to remove the converter MUCH more quickly than I would notice the light going on. I haven't noticed anyone tailor a Ring camera video to that sudden new need around the country. Or maybe some other company has a better solution. I am an old man and I don't want to be climbing a ladder to the peak of our garage to keep charging a battery every month like most Ring devices would require.
