We appreciate your inquiry! The installation featured in the video was made on a faucet. The "P" trap is visible on the right side of the screen. Yes, some PEX piping systems use red for hot and blue for cold while others do not have color standard.

Thank you for your input. Yes, you are correct, this is always a concern with electric hot water heater installation.

I would put a threaded male fitting into the pex and crimp it in and then thread on a threaded shut-off valve. if the valve ever needs replacing, you don't have to mess with the PEX again. Just screw off the old valve and screw on another one - BOOM.

I was more interested in how you mount these things inside the house. This type of valve would be used and visible within the house. How to you mount this valve to the drywall?

Is there any type of ESCUTCHEON plate that can be put on near the wall ( pedestal sink application) to cover the ugly PEX tube/ crimp ?

1st turn off electric Hot Water Heater. If you open the lowest hot water valve and the water drains below the top element and the thermostat brings on the top element you will then need to replace it.

this is something I had done today by liscened pllumbers. the original hot water tank valve, they said,, was done totally wrong a hole was punched into the copper line and the orignal valve was screwed in. I think my home inspector when I bought the home was not doing his job real well. the leak got into my sheetrock. the procedrue is as follows like in this video my invoice discribed it as "Cut 3/4 waterline and tied on to it with a shark bite(valve) and replaced water supply ine and the line that tees into the side hotline that was leaking that connects to the humidifier in the the attic . (and that 3/4 inch was where the original home owner had drilled a hole and screwed the old coroded valve into-very VERY stupid!) worse of all the sheetrock around and behind the washer will have to be replaced. he said it was full of water and would mold. it already has! I can see! so I am afraid for my cat and myself and any hosue guest!

Need help. I'm using the 1/4 turn brass valve with pex line to the valve and a pex line going from valve to dishwasher. Problem is I can't turn the nut to remove the pex line going to the dishwasher. What do you recommend?

I should use a swivel straight to the faucet, instead of spending 10 dlls on the valve.

How to remove it . Is it the only way to remove it just cut it off. This type of valve may make the pipe getting shorter . When you need to replace the new one.

This video is missing a crucial step: removal of the old valve! This is the kind of instructions or how-to video made for someone who already has done this before. How about the rest of us?
@Schismxs
@Schismxs 6 лет назад
Um, you remove the valve the same way you remove any other pex fitting. You unscrew the braided supply line and cut the pex line below the fitting. Use your pex ring removal tool to cut the crimp ring.

No tape on the hose connection?
@bluearcherx
@bluearcherx Год назад
i realize it's been a year since you posted this, but no, it's a straight thread with a sealing gasket inside the fitting. you don't tape these.

Incredibly useless video. All you did is show how to crimp a PEX fitting and how to attach a hose. Now, how about attaching the stop valve to the wall??? With copper or galvanized the valve is rigidly attached to the pipe that cannot move. How does a flexible PEX tube rigidly hold the valve?
@Schismxs
@Schismxs 6 лет назад
These are not designed to attach to a wall.
@bluearcherx
@bluearcherx Год назад
I don't think it neccessarily needs to be rigid, but if that's a concern then you should convert your pex to a copper elbow to stub out of the wall, and secure that to blocking in the wall
@tinaleanne8230
@tinaleanne8230 Год назад
@@bluearcherx Those years ago I was researching the pros and cons regarding PEX and copper. Copper won by a landslide and I did the whole house in copper. The two main considerations: 1) Copper is naturally antimicrobial. 2) There were instances reported of things growing in PEX. I do not remember if it was fungal or bacterial. Another MAJOR thing to consider is copper is 100% recyclable although that was not a consideration at the time.
@onenikkione
@onenikkione Год назад
@@tinaleanne8230 don't forget there is different grades of copper plumbing, don't use the thin cheaper stuff.
