This is a video of how to install a carbon fiber spoiler on my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. If you like this video please comment, rate, and subscribe. Thanks!! Carbon Fiber Spoiler: amzn.to/2Itbysk
Was about to fit the exact same spoiler, all measured up but started to rain so came indoors to wait it out,.. found this video and boom! I've now ordered a pack of 100mm M6 bolts. Thanks for the info, you saved me a trip to the hardware store and all the inconvenience of finding out the hard way. Many thanks
Measure the width of the trunk. Find the middle and mark it. Measure the distance between the two mounts. Cut that amount in half and the measure that half from the center of the trunk. Mark it left of center and right of center. You now know how to install it evenly.
@Alek Wolf I put it on a Nissan Altima coupe. It looks great! Easy to install. Doesn't obscure the side mirrors. Obviously it obscures the rear view. But I love how it looks. And so does everyone else
Any trunk bending/deformation issues now that you've had the wing on for awhile? I didn't see any reinforcements on the bottom side i.e. fender washers or sheet metal bracing, etc. Thanks!!
Nice video. Did your internal trunk support frame bended from inside because of those longer bolts that you used to fix the spoiler? Also is it the correct way to install it on the trunk support frame from inside or does the holes on that support frame has to made wide and tighten the bolts all the way to the top metal later of the trunk? And does the spoiler makes your trunk warp or bend after a few months or years?
Is it actually a good quality wing? like im not gonna use those mounts im going to build custom chassis mounted ones but did the wing actually end up holding up? and was it actually real carbon?
I got a very similar spoiler, but the problem im having is that the mounting brackets to mount to the spoiler are just barely 1cm shy from fitting. Any ideas on fixing this or where to get a replacement?
Generally it’s best not to so that you can still remove it yourself later. But if you’re ok with that risk, you could always sand and wield metal parts together, solder in the guides on the screwheads, or use headless screws.
Universal and adjustable and mult-piece spoilers will have that problem, most spoilers made specifically for your car will only require bolts from inside the trunk.
What would "proper support" be? Please share in your wisdom to me, because I want to put an after market spoiler on my car.... But I don't really want to see my trunk bent and I can see how that could happen.... The way I see it, how he had the really long bolts going though the support frame of the trunk wouldn't that me enough? What more could you do?
Real question . I really reall need to know if it held up from the nuts going on the 2nd layer of steel metal . I have a spoiler for my wrx n it’s similar and I have layers as well but most ppl Iv seen put bolts directly on the other side of the trunk . Wouldn’t that wear down after a while . No thread lock and it could just weaken . I duno . My first time. Lemme know how it’s been after how much time if it got loose . Details pls dude . Cheers
I have the same wing on my is250 now let me ask you this when u drive does the wing shake? Cause mine it shake abit when I go above 65mph. Let me know if I did something wrong I follow your video.
He did a great job installing it and he could a socket set for those tight spots! However, A spoiler on that style car just looks wrong! Maybe if the car was black or maybe it is because I am not a spoiler person!
Really need your help if you can I have the same spoiler but none of it is making sense to me if you could please answer back to this it would be greatly appreciated!
It looks slick on your lancer bro! I do have a question regarding the spoiler. So i will be putting it on my 11 IS350 FSPORTS, but is it gonna damage the trunk or something like that? Cause some people said that after a while it starts to bend the trunk. I dont wanna mess up with the car while its in good shape. I mean i really want to get this spoiler but at the same time it makes me little bit worry about the quality and after effect. Any advice or suggestion would be really appreciated! Thanks.
I recently bought a universal wing for my Honda Accord from a shop, seems like my bolts are longer than yours for the mounting brackets, so it doesn't stay tight it's just wobbly, is there a way to stop this wobble? Should just add more washers?
CDNBaconRich he most likely got it on eBay. There are quite a few sellers of this wing on there and more like it. And honestly the quality is great and depending on the car you put it on, it looks great too. I have one on my 2002 s2000 and it has held up to the Arizona sun for over a year now. Normally eBay has some iffy products but I would honestly 100% recommend this wing.
