Well that was alot easier than I had initially thought. I've swapped my cb's in and out of my company trucks, but haven't actually installed one yet. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. My dad put one in my s10 years ago and passed away before he finished setting it up. Took that same radio and put it in my little jeep and going to put it to good use as I go to the mountains Thanksgiving. Time to shoot some skip haha
@@rpeek something I forgot to buy is a new antenna I’m getting NOTHING but static on the one that came with the truck when I bought it. Hoping a new antenna will remedy.
I just randomly thinking of putting a cb in my truck, a truck that is same year and model my dad had, so a classic. Found this video and its the same as his truck, haha, nice
I bought this little cobra radio for my 73 F3 50 after I get it running. I got it from a pawnshop for 20 bucks came with the speaker and it tested out. They had me hook it up to like a power wheels battery and it worked
Massachussetts'new distracted driving law does not exempt CB radio use, and applies to ANY electronic device. The only exemption is for federally licensed two way radio operators with call signs. You must carry a copy of your FCC license when stopped for the violation to claim exemption. The penalties are draconian. Smokey's a real bear. 10-4 good buddy.
I'm not sure I should have installed this one. I don't think anyone uses these things anymore, but I figured me and Rusty Achers would have some fun with 'em
I had one of those radios back in the 90s . Kick myself for selling it . I have a cheap radio shack and a uhf/vhf radio . I took the test and got my tech. Ticket .
With 28 years on the road, I learned to install CB's in "actual trucks" back before the FCC gave us those additional channels, back when it was just 23 and the 4 watt rule hadn't been created yet. Pretty much the same in a pickup truck except you don't have to worry about frying it with 24 volts, like you do on an old Mack..
It's been so long since installed I almost forgot how to do it! Lately used FRS walkie-talkies for convoy duties between vehicles moving the family. I aspired to own SSB radios, for much further transmission legally, but never found an economical pair. Are these still legal if the mic is not hands-free?
Thats a good Cb set I had one close to that my dad was in Cb a wile I have a handle too what channel u on I probably can't hear u tho..I have a power amp booster also.that is illegal lol I've got a k40 on my car too
I understand a little bit of everybody's different different states but I also will run one of those little cigarette lighter adapter things you have the black and the red and and as long as you don't plan on smoking and you have enough cigarette ports open in a Truck I think at all AutoZones or O'Reilly's or Walmart it's like three or four dollars and you don't have to like get under your dish - or run something to your battery that time it takes you to do all that running wires and find which power outlet works for you yeah I understand that that cigarette Port runs offer something to but said if you buy a fuse for you know exactly which one so if your cigarette lighter ports burned out or something you kind of always have a spare littelfuse I don't know maybe it's Me Maybe everybody else does it too because I'm one of those types of guys I like to buy like older vehicles especially if it's going to be like your work truck or even a family little car that you plan on operating because it's easier on gas with all that said and done you'll be spending probably for 5 bucks depends on where you live buy extra fuses so say if you blow a fuse because you're running that if you go to AutoZone or O'Reilly's any car parts store whatever you have get that little plug-in with the black and red staying connected to the CB radio I'm always trying save time
I crossed my connection when installing and when I plugged it into the radio something popped and smoked. Actually I'm not sure I crossed it but any idea what I blew?
Yep. If you had a fuse under 2 amps it would have been that but if not, especially since you saw smoke, you probably burnt up something in the radio and will have to take it to a cb shop to get it fixed.
@@tainchains Yea there's something in there that will blow if you cross the wires. Used to happen a lot back in the old truck driving days. Back then CB shops were pretty common and you could get one fixed for a few bucks. Not sure if that's so true these days.
i got two doin a scrap removal job im keeping one for my f250 but i have another if your in texas id be glad to hook you up with it but im not sure if either cbs work so were both chancing it
