Very helpful video… you made it look easy for sure. I just put up the same fan yesterday…. Wish I had found this video. My lighting collar did not want to lock… many cuss words were said in this instance. Shoulders were on fire and it looks like you had this thing up in 10 mins.

I literally watched this to learn how to take the light cover off because I just moved into a place with 3 of these fans that I will say work very well but just had my first bulb go out and figured it went in like it shows I just wasn't sure clockwise or counter and it's really tight and I've broken these kind of light covers before

I just installed this fan and after getting 95% done it decided it wasn't going to fit flush to the ceiling. We do have a textured ceiling so I'm wondering if that's why... It works great and is quiet but there is some motion unless I close the gap with a material.... Is this normal with textured ceilings?

I'm sorry to say that a textured ceiling will be more involved with an installation. Most of the time, I have to use spacers during mounting fans on uneven ceilings.

Is there any benefit in using an impact driver rather than a regular drill/driver for ceiling fan installation?
@workingmanrondoyle3287
@workingmanrondoyle3287 2 года назад
Oh my yes. I had that discussion with a metal roofer year ago. He told me there was more control of setting the depth of screws with an impact driver. He told me to try it out. I did the next day and never turned back once to a drill driver again! Not to mention the driver bits last longer without the round over effects.

I have the same fan I’m installing, and all the wires make sense, but do I attach the green wire from the fan motor to the green wire from my ceiling?

Thanks for watching. Yes, all grounds get bonded together with a wire nut of the appropriate size. I hope the video helps you.

Trying today to install a ceiling fan and what a cluster. I have one red wire and two white wires coming down out of the box that was connected to the old fan? The two white lines were connected to the old fan's white wire and the red wire was connected to the old fan's black and blue wires? Looking up into the box I see two lines coming in, one has a black, white, and ground wire and the other line has a black, white and red wire. The two black lines are connected together in the box. There is a single dimmer switch on the wall that controls the fan/light. Do I need to call an electrician?

Thanks for watching and commenting Craig. It sounds like the house is older. Years ago, the electricians would run most of the feeds in the overhead boxes under the light fixtures. They did this to save on wire. You may need an electrician if you have taken it all apart.

@@workingmanrondoyle3287 Thanks for your reply. I didn't take anything apart, I'm just wondering is it safe to connect the new fan in the same way as the old fan was connected using the red wire from the box connected to the black/blue wires on the fan, and the 2 white wires from the box going to the white wire on the fan? I don't want to burn the house down, and the house is 32 years old.

@@craigbrush4312 That sounds like it's right. If you connect it back the same way. The most common problem I've ran into older house's is a switched neutral. This happens mostly on houses with cloth wrapped wire. The tar substance that was on the Wire usually stains the white. Thus causing people to wire it backwards. The most common occurrence to this is, noticing a incandescent bulb with a dim glow after it's turned off. Switched neutrals will leave around 54 volts on the Hot leg in the off position. If I were you I would check it with a voltmeter before installing the fan. Check voltage from the whites to the red with the switch on should be around 110 to 120 volts is normal. Then turn switch off should read 0 to maybe .01 to .05 volts. Which is normal. If it reads 50 to 60 volts with the switch off. You've got a switched neutral somewhere. I hope that helps you.
