This is the best video on RU-vid showing a newer model Hunter fan install. What kind of wall switch is powering your fan? Is it just a simple on/off then the remote works the light and fan once the wall switch is on? There was previously a chandelier on dimmer switch so i may need to change the wall switch with the fan install. I recently had to return my Hunter Maybeck fan (model 59317) and am wanting for the replacement from Hunter. It seems like the screws in the motor housing were too long and the rotating housing is scraping the top cover when i spin it. The screws appear to be about 1/4” too long. Hopefully new fan is assembled correctly at the factory.

Hey, I have a light were there is 3 different fixtures all in a line. I am looking to replace them with a ceiling fan because well there is some broken off light bulbs stuck in 2 and I would like a fan. Anyways do I just twist off the two outer ones and use the existing middle wire to put the fan on?

Very nice video, thanks for sharing! Im thinking im buying that same fan from Hunter. I have a few questions: A) can you share the reference on the screwdriver that you use in the video? Very neat tool B) on full speed, does it do the job? Refreshing enough? C) What’s the intended effect on reverse during summer? Once again, thank you!

The screwdriver is actually my 6' extension for my impact driver. I used it and attached the magnetic collect (the yellow tip) to keep the screws attached to the driver tips. full speed there is definitely a noticeable breeze in the room. for the direction for winter or summer this link will explain better than i could and less time. www.delmarfans.com/educate/basics/what-is-the-proper-ceiling-fan-direction/

You skipped how you fit the receiver into the bracket. Pretty significant since the wiring from the remote protrudes from the sides which then doesn't allow it to fit in the bracket once all the wiring is in place. I'm going to guess the reason is the same for you as it was for us. You just jam the shit out of everything and then ram the canopy in place then reef the crap out of those poorly machined screws so then end up flush with the canopy even though you have just stripped all the threads. Assembling the rest is fairly easy so long as you have the hands of a Hobbit. And lastly the end product neither lights nor turns.

What do you do with the white wire from bottom of blue receiver. And the red wire from your ceiling?
@TheShackHome
@TheShackHome 5 лет назад
Amit there was no red wire. If you have a red wire its because the fan was wired for a double switch. One to work the light one to work the fan. With the remote that is no longer needed. This was the case for my living room fan though. I simply discounted the wire from the switch and now its a dead wire, But in this case for my room. I wanted the light separate, The light doesn't dim, I purposely did this for my personal weirdness. When I come into as room I like to hit the switch and turn on the light. Also when i leave turn it off and let the fan stay on. I just don't want to search for the remote to turn the light on or off. I like it for fan speed. Even though i loose the ability to dim the light it's not a major issue for me.

@TheShackHome
@TheShackHome 3 года назад
Ompanime just for safety I'd get a multimeter check the red to see if it switches on and off with the switch and if any power to the black, better safe to see just what is going on. Many cases the red is the wire to a switch for an outlet to work the upper plug so you can have a light plugged in and work it with a switch. if the red is power all the time then you will need the remote to turn on or off. I wired mine to turn the fan and light separate so I can have the fan on all the time. The light won't dim but i'm fin with that.

@@TheShackHome I figured it out ... Im not in the same town where I installed the fan, so I can not exactly remember except there was no yellow wire . as I remember there were 3 wires going "in" hot, common, and ground. then there were I believe 4 wires going into the fan, I did succeed in installing it, however, the fan worked fine but the lights did not work at all. I remember the directions stating to make sure the plug on the light was aligned up correctly with the plug on the fan. SO I think I got a dud and will have to find another light to install on the fan :( Thanks seems like there was a red wire that went to a black wire for the light and the blue wire was to the fan :) Blessings :)

Anyone has had a problem with the fan not working? I bought 4 of this particular brand at Lowe's. After a few months, one of them stopped working. The light works, but the fan won't turn with or w/o the remote. I think the year warranty is expired, but I am pretty sure it got messed up within that warranty period. I just coukdnt find the receipt, or was too lazy, or didn't make time to take it back to Lowe's. It's been over a year now and the fan is still the same probably staring at me to come fix it. I went to Lowe's last month to see if they had a similar one that matches the existing ones in the house, they told me the discontinued it. Any suggestions, advise on where I could find a similar one? Or if there is a trick that I ignore to restart my static fan? Thanks in advance.

Edward just a quick thought, have you looked to see if by chance the wire came loose. That's why i always pull on the wires after putting on the wire nut to make sure the wires are intact and tight. sometimes they don't connect like they should. I'd double check the connections. Don't know what else to say I've had my for years and never had one quit. I've replaced them after so many years but never had one do that . Maybe you just drew a bad one.

@MEEZER...this isn't a picture of this model, not sure if it's even a Hunter. (Best fans that can be bought at a home improvement store, btw). Either way, I've installed many ceiling fans with remotes of all different brands and this is how it's always done: once the connections are made, the receiver slides into the space right above the round hook that holds the ball and downrod attached to the fan. Sometimes you may have to turn the receiver around or onto the other side, so it may be a good idea to test fit it before you make your connections. For excess wire, I first trim my wires if they are very long before applying wirenuts, and I use zip ties to bundle up the rest and tuck them up & out of the way. If there is room on top of the receiver once it's in place, that's a good spot, otherwise, you could zip tie them to the bracket right next to the receiver. The most important part is that they are not in the way of any moving parts, and that there is no bare wire exposed...I like to wrap my wirenuts in electrical tape just in case, as it would just take one tiny strand of wire poking out from a wirenut to touch the fan housing, delivering a potentially nasty shock. Hope this helps...let me know. -t www.familyhandyman.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/fan.jpg

Yes that is one of my dogs. He's an English lab the only one that hangs out with me in the shop
