I want to let you know that I was able to fix my speed controller by watching you replace the cord. I dropped mine and came apart. 2 springs fell out and that white part in the back. I called Brother and they couldn't tell me how to fix it or give me a picture/diagram of the inside of the speed controller! By watching your video and stopping it in certain places I could see how the parts would go back in! Thank you so very much!

I would solder the spade lugs to the end of the cord, or use a crimping tool and connectors designed for crimping. But if the manufacturer recommends this, then the plier-crimp you did will work all right, since the current is low and the connectors are not being flexed.

Hi there, can you help me, I am having trouble with wiring the other end of the foot pedal to my machine. I have 4 terminals marked E M N L. I presume that is earth ,motor, neutral and lamp. when I wire this I only get the lamp going? It is an old Novum mk3 machine, regards Ashley

Hi these speed controllers could they be used as a speed control on something like a dremel?

I took my Bernina 930 foot control apart and it looks pretty easy to fix if I could just find the parts. Why are they unavailable? I can buy all kinds of replacement knobs and even screws for this machine and others but the foot controls are a tightly "controlled" part! My cord is perfect. I need a case (could be used) and the capacitor or whatever the part is called that makes contact with the split wires from the cord. I've seen photos. I should be able (allowed) to repair this myself.

I have a Sears model 6817 YDK foot pedal which is in perfect condition except for a frayed cord right where it enters the pedal. I have been covering the exposed wire with electrical tape but am concerned that the tape won't cover it sufficiently, and I might cause a fire. I want to replace the frayed cord, but my foot pedal has a metal pin at the hinge which goes through the plastic. I can't figure out how to access the inside, and I think the plastic will break if I try to pry it off as you did. How do I get to the inside so I can cut off the bad part of the cord and fix it?

How do you know which wire goes to which connector? Or doesn’t it matter? It seems like it should matter. Red usually goes to red and black to black, but in this video you did not mention polarity of the wires. I think this video needs to be expanded and redone to be more thorough and complete. However, thanks for the few clues I got about rewiring my foot adapter. You are making this for people who generally know nothing about electricity. The new video needs to keep that in mind and mention the hot versus cold wire or whatever it’s called. I don’t feel like I could retire my foot controller and feel like it is safe, after watching this video. Thanks for the effort to help us.

Unfortunately, with Bernina machines you have to buy the specific foot controller made for that particular model. We have the genuine and generic part. RU-vid doesn't allows links in the comment section, but if you go to our website search box (top right hand corner) and type in Foot Control w/ Cord, Bernina #0049307001 you will get the genuine foot pedal for your model. If you type in Foot Control w/ Cord, Bernina #0049307001R you will get the generic foot pedal.
