How to install a custom exhaust on a Triumph Bobber 21' onwards - Motone Mayhem Shorty Dragpipes

I describe and show how to take the stock exhaust off the Triumph Bobber and then I show you how to install a custom exhaust on the Triumph Bobber.
I install the Motone Mayhem Shorty dragpipes on this one. I also have another video showing the before and after sound! Check it out on my channel to see how much of a difference it makes. I absolutely love them.
But for now you will need a ratchet, extender, 10mm and 12mm socket and a 5mm allen key. I also found the paddock stand to be really useful. It made it so much easier with the bike feeling more secure and having the side stand out of the way. Had a great deal on the one I bought and if you want the link, let me know I'll drop it in the comments. 100% recommend it.
Hope the video helps. I tried to show enough detail without watching hours of video.
In the next video I'll show how to install the XPipe on the Triumph Bobber and decat your bike (remove the cat convertor). I also have a video of before and after the install/ removal. Its an absolute must watch and listen as the sound difference is incredible.

Thank you

Great video!! Putting mine on tomorrow. Have done some research, re tuning. Apparently these bikes have an auto tune system in them. Start the bike cold, no throttle, wait for it to get to optimum running temp, 190, you will know this as the fan will activate, then let the bike idle for 12 minutes, then let the bike cool off. This apparently helps the performance and sound! Hope this works for you! Cheers, Steve

@British Bobber we watched TimeWrangler youtuber, video called 12 Minute Tune. I put my Motone pipes on and did the tune and the bike has never ran better! No warning lights, no miss firing or splatters. Lovely low down dirty groan that these pipes give! Totally recommend the tune, but be precise with the timing etc. Good luck 👍

I just installed this exhaust and love it. Really appreciate the step by step install. I kept the stock cat and it's got enough additional growl for my personal liking. Did you happen to have a nightmare time getting the clutch side installed? For me the clamp nut was near impossible to get a socket or wrench in to. There's just too much "stuff" surrounding that clamp nut.
@britishbobber

Glad it helped mate 👌 i know the part you are talking about exactly i did at first but then luckily had an extension for the socket that was just right and somehow managed to get the angle aswell. It was a lot more fiddly on that side on the bobber though

Just had the same situation. That clamp was a nightmare. Just got a quarter turn before I gave. Up but exhaust still just popped out and new one slipped in

Hey brother thanks for the tutorial! I have a question if you don't mind... I put mine on this Sunday along with the cat delete I put on a few months ago. My god it sounds so good😁 My question is, are you still running yours with no cat? If so have you run into any issues at all? Have you noticed your oil level dropping at all or heard the valve slapping or anything that can happen when people put on new exhaust? Any issues at all since you put it on? I love the way it sounds! I mean damn!!!😅 just want to make sure I'm keeping her healthy. I thought I might see a performance drop or need to get her remmaped after but it really doesn't seem like she needs it. Anyways thanks bud! .... oh BTW if you haven't had any issues, how many miles have you gone since the swap?

Glad you found it helpful mate thank you for the feedback 😁. It does sound incredible to be fair... get it out on a big group ride or bike night and you will notice the difference with other bikes 💪. I've had it almost a year and all good not noticed any changes or worsening of the bike. Its getting a service soon so will have the professionals check it over too but all good since and I must have done over 2.5k miles now

@@britishbobber Right on, man, good to hear! I would think 2500 miles in and you would know if there was going to be a problem for sure. I've had issues in the past and heard of others having issues in the past putting drag pipes on so I'm so glad to hear she's good to go. God bless modern ecu's🙏 Thanks again for posting the video. I looked at quite a few videos and quite a view different exhaust before I settled on one and your video was a 100%. The deciding factor in getting this one. And for a quarter the price of some of the others. and just absolutely THUNDEROUS!!! Super metallic angry sounding too not just the same old shit ya know. Anyway thanks and thanks again!

I just cannot get the clamps to lock on the clutch side! Struggling to get enough thread out so I can start tightening the nuts. Any advice?

Yes, i had this at first and couldn't figure out why but I hadn't replaced the o ring far enough onto the header pipe, and so the header pipe wasn't pushed far enough into its recess. It was only a few mm more needed. Have you tried this on both the outlet from the engine and inlet into the cat?

Hi! Thanks for posting Have you considered to loose the heat sink/ exhaust cover from the header? Saves some weight which is a bobber priority and it might look stellar. Those covers are fake anyways...

@@britishbobber Sweet, did you have to tuned the bike for fuel and airflow after the exhaust install
@britishbobber
@britishbobber Год назад
@Lee Stewart no i havent had it tuned mate.. ive spoken to a few who have had exhausts done and none of them with bobbers have had the tune or noticed any need for one 🤷‍♂️ whats your thoughts?
@leestewart2588
@leestewart2588 Год назад
@@britishbobber ah ok, when I bobbed my Harley 48 I had to get the bike tuned to allow the right fuel and air ratio whilst using the vance and Hines short shots. I thought maybe this would be the case with the triumphs? I'll double check with the local dealer. Thanks pal

Maybe it is mate id be interested to see exactly how much percentage wise of a difference it would make and how accurate a remap would actually be

Did you have any issues putting the seal on the Exhaust? I cant seem to get mine on for some reason. I have the Black Powder Coated ones
@britishbobber
@britishbobber 6 месяцев назад
I did on one side. I used a bit of sandpaper to rub the inside of the seal ever so slightly and then it went on. Do a little bit at a time until it fits. Be careful not to do too much though. Hope it helps

Ordered mine and came with 2 sets of bolts m10x1.0 and m10x1.5 both have started to shred when installing and are longer than the original bolt. Thankfully the originals still fit but I don’t want to force the new ones through risk of threading the frame. Anyone had this or have any advice?
@britishbobber
@britishbobber 5 месяцев назад
Did you try putting the bolt in the other side of the bike? I can't remember having this issue you are right though dont force it and risk it threading
@jamesisaac8926
@jamesisaac8926 5 месяцев назад
@@britishbobber yes mate same on the other side. I’ve got a feeling they have sent me the wrong bolts. I’ve checked triumph manual and the originals are 1.25 which is a different thread to what they have sent me. Thankfully the original bolt still fits so I don’t think I’ve damaged the original thread.
