Just bought 7 brushed nickle ones to replace my gold that have been on since 1994. I do know what a screwdriver is and being on a fixed income at age 83 I think I will give it a try. Thank you for the tutorial. No telling what a handyman would charge. 😊😊
Your video was very helpful and allowed me to complete the job. Had a few issues but worked through them, I had the hidden screws on the old door handle and was a challenge to get off. Taking off one of the new door handles off is helpful in getting the new screws on. Thanks Mike for your expertise.
FYI....The round piece you said you won’t need isn’t true. Older doors do not have a notched out spot for the small plate. You separate the plate from latch with a screw driver and slip the collar (round piece) over the latch. It shows you in the directions. But good video nonetheless
Thanks. I have this on my front door. It was loose and I couldn't figure out how to fix it past getting the handle off with the allen key. As soon as you popped that cover off, it all made sense I was able to complete my task.
WHY does Kwikset make us take the assembly apart in order to install it??? If this is the case, why does it come assembled in the first place???Already regretting this purchase.
Thank you so much 🙏 These were already installed and one got sloppy and I couldn’t see any blatant brand for searching instructions for tightening (as no screws were visible or accessible). After taking a photo of the door 🚪 handle and searching the web from Google Photo, I decided that the “Kwikset Tustin Matte Black Keyed Entry Door Handle Featuring SmartKey Security with Microban Antimicrobial Technology” was the closest match, which allowed me to find your video on RU-vid, where I saw you use an Allen wrench (3/32”) behind the handle (I hadn’t noticed that yet; such a dark color). After loosing the Allen screw a bit, removing that handle, then the decorative ring, I was able tighten the Phillips screws (allowing the door to finally close correctly after months of frustration (lifting up hard on the handle). So, I put it back together and snugged the Allen screw. 😉👍
Best video goes to you. I’ve looked at so many videos trying to find one that explains how to install the door knob with the hidden screws. I was about to give up. Thank you.
I took my daughter's door handle (an old 1990's one) off to paint the door and couldn't put it back. On top of that, the door handle broke. Ugh! I went to Home Depot and got the same lock that you have and installed it, no problem. Your video came to the rescue. Thank you, MIke, instant sub!!!
Mike I got the Kwikset door handle for one of my doors as its suppose to be easy to replace. That sold me as I never fix anything and I just get someone to fix things around the house. The instructions I have to say wasn't very clear as it could be. Then I couldn't figure out how to pop the covers. Needless to say after a hour of trying to fix the door I gave up and decided to youtube it . Lord behold you showed up. It took me all of 15 mins to fix after looking at your video. Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!
This was perfect! It was clear and simple without a lot of unnecessary chit chat. I was stuck on my first handle installation so I watched this and got all three installed in 10 minutes. Thank you.
