video on how to install a double din radio on a 2010 dodge ram 1500, with only a t20 torx a Philips screw driver and a cheap Dremel off amazon, I will leave all links down below. and by the way the yellowish brown wire you have left over with the install is for Sirius xm radio which you will nit use with the new radio. ordered through crutchfield

Was the wire harness plug and play? I have a 2011 1500 ST that I'm about to drop a new DD HU in, and I've seen alot of people talking about needing a 12V accessory wire tapped into cigarette lighter or fuse box. Doesn't seem like you needed one?

Chaston Hall no Crutchfield sells a ready harness which has everything connected to it that is needed and it is plug and play.

The second wire that is similar to the antenna, what did you connect it to? Or is it not needed after you install the aftermarket stereo?

I got a apple car play one for my phone to connect to. You can go on crutchfield.com and type in specific make and model and they will walk you through what all you need and what will work. They will also send you instructions for your specific vehicle

@@ceeantique-vintage2646 yeah I got a axxera radio but honestly can do any other brand. I recommend going kn crutchfield and doing their build and you can get pre wired plug and play harnesses which save a bunch of time.

Making Stuff and Breaking Stuff with Al they do sell a wire kit option that allows steering wheel controls. My truck does not have steering wheel audio controls so I did not need the harness but they do sell a plug and play harness with that option

No, U-Connect is a stock MOPAR feature and will not work with aftermarket. If the head unit has bluetooth you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Is the cutting you did particular to just the 2010 1500 model? In searching for a stereo, it seemed the 2010 1500 was the black sheep of the family.

rezyl102 so I can't say for sure because I have not done it in another year dodge ram but if it has the same style dash it probly still has the same cross member.

@@benaferhc5 Thanks for the quick reply. There seem to be a lot of plug-and play stereos for the 2010 2500 and 3500, but not the 1500. I don't know why those would have different dashes, but I guess these cuts are why it's so hard to find 2-DIN head units for the 2010. I'm just starting my research. This video helps immensely.

rezyl102 yeah I had one person on here day he did not have to cut it but I wanted a super tight fit with no space on the sides and cutting it was the only way I could achieve the fit I wanted.

LanceManAdventures ordered through Crutchfield. Really good Company makes it easy by putting in you year make and model and tell you what will work and also give you step by step instructions

Strange. Crutchfield says it doesnt fit my 2010 ram 3500. Does yours have factory amp? I have the basic stereo. No steering wheel controls or anything fancy

Atios Reyes ordered from Crutchfield it is a double din filler because the standard bezzle is big enough but wider then the double din so it is just filler pieces

@@benaferhc5 it worked kind of. It pushed my tray above the stereo up and wouldn't sit flush. Had to trim where it was hitting on the top side of my stereo about 1/8". But I pushed on the sides of the stereo to get in there. Most people probably wouldn't want to push on it as hard as it takes to get it in there.
